Next I looked at the following link which made me think I needed cuda 6.5 but when I tried to install it, the install failed because there is only a 32bit xp install and im running a 64bit win 10 OS.

I've been able to boot on Windows 10 on my MBW (Macbook5,2) with latest NVidia drivers but the screen brightness is locked, both windows settings under power management and fn keys are disabled/not working. But the volume keys are ok
If I let Windows Update install the 341.71 driver upon restart I get into a bootloop and the machine would not even get to the log-in screen - it crashes before that, right after the windows boot logo. The same happens with the newer Nvidia driver 341.81 downloaded from nvidia.com ... any hint / tip would be greatly appreciated!
We interpret this as NVidia (or Intel, resp.) driver issue. If you are affected, run Stellarium in ANGLE mode or leave fullscreen mode before changing colors or directory. Pressing ESC should close the hidden system dialog, or press Alt-Tab to switch windows.
For all you die-hard XP users: this version (only the "classic" flavour) still even works on XP. Make sure to update graphics drivers though. A Geforce 9600 crashed with 335 drivers, but works with 340 drivers. e24fc04721
