The M-Track Solo is the best, most portable recording interface in its class. It delivers 48 kHz audio resolution in a compact and easy to use format that is ideal for creating music on any Mac, PC or iOS device. This versatile interface works great for recording any type of sound source and features a single Combo Crystal Preamp with phantom power, plus a switchable Line / Instrument input making it compatible with any guitar or microphone. Plus, with M-Track Solo's 2-channel recording you can use both line inputs simultaneously to capture digital pianos, drum machines or any other stereo 1/4" device. M-track Solo is completely powered by USB, removing the need for an external power supply and making it perfectly portable for recording on-the-go. Throw it into your bag, grab a laptop, and create your next podcast, song, or mix anywhere you want!

So I recently bought the m-audio m-track solo interface around the first week of this month. It is my very first audio interface, so I don't really have any prior experience, but I'm pretty confident that I did my proper research on them and I just want a budget option. I hooked it up to my pc, downloaded the required drivers that I read in their manual, and adjusted my own windows microphone properties as stated: 2 channel, 24 bit, 48000hz. Next is I set the "Streaming Sample Rate" on the M-audio control panel to 48000. After a couple of days, I realized that my voice got deeper on my recordings( I did a podcast), and then I tried recording a song that's playing from my speakers, and it made the vocals and instrumentals sound deep, along with slowing the tempo down. Then I changed the streaming sample rate to 44100 in the control panel, and then I thought that changing the sample rate fixed it because it went back to normal for a short while, but later on it made my voice sound too high pitched and made the tempo of the songs a bit faster. I already emailed their customer support: I sent 2 or 3 support tickets within the span of 1 week because I wasn't getting any emails from them except an auto-generated email saying that I'm gonna be in touch with a customer service representative soon(24-72 hours), and I did after 9 days. They asked me about my problem and what OS am I using etc. and I already replied to them last Friday, but I'm still waiting for their response. Now I'm pretty desperate because the 30-day return period on Amazon is gonna be over, and I don't really want to return the product because it's such a value for the price, but this driver problem is a pain and might be an automatic deal-breaker for some. I need all the help I can get, and to those who own this interface, are you guys facing this problem too?

I've been trying to simply record some guitar and vocal tracks onto the latest version of Logic Pro X. It worked before I downloaded the update of Yosemite, however now, I can't find a solution to my problem. I've tried everything! Installed new drivers onto the M-Audio and even tried to search for a later update of Yosemite. I have read a few things online about how Yosemite doesn't accept 3rd party drivers. So any USB plugged in to the macbook/mac that isn't mac based it doesn't accept.

I know many music professionals that would disagree with that assessment of the Logic/Yosemite combination. All you have to do is check this and other board to see users (with compatible hardware) having problems with reduced track count, (both audio & VI), CPU spikes, sluggish performance with high track count, unable to open previous projects, constant overload messages...etc. It may get better in the future but for now it's not happening.. If you're happy, great, but I'm not going to advise upgrading the OS until I see proof of greater stability and performance. I think that will take a Logic upgrade as the OS is outpacing the application.

Yes, I have shown many long time editors that hitting the old button with ctrl works like a solo button - they didn't even know and had been laboriously deselecting all other tracks to "solo" a track. But I really don't think we should be making buttons smaller and harder to use just for the sake of a learning curve. How about adding a tool tip that says "ctrl click" to solo this track? In any case, please give us a menu option to go back to the single button. And the new "hidden" track disable button is driving a lot of people crazy! They don't know how to turn it back on when it mysteriously gets grayed out. A tool tip here would be nice too.

I would suggest to have them side by side instead of among each other. Then it would be much easier to see which solo/mute button belongs to what track. I know that we would loose a bit timeline space but that would be the price for a way better workflow.

I agree that you can't map 24 solo/mute buttons on the keyboard.

So an other suggestion to select multiple solo/mute buttons very fast would be to hold shift and slide over the buttons.Ā

(it only works when they are side by side)

It would be the same how you now choose multiple tracks. And you should also integrate it with deactivate and sync-locks.

I always feel a bit dumb when I deactivated all tracks using "mute" (and I can't activate them back) and have to click every single of the 16 deactivate buttons. I would love to simply hold shift and slide over the deactivate buttons or solo/mute, sync-locks.

Dhansel:if you "alt-click" solor or mute, (depends on your platform) it does a global operation which is a great way to clear solos and/or mutes.

I would love to see that work for ganging/unganging tracks in the mixers as well.

For over a dozen audio tracks in a timeline, anything that makes the solo and mute buttons larger would be an improvement over the teeny, tiny, crappy buttons that they are now. I simply cannot afford to vertically enlarge all of those tracks and use up that much screen real estate for the timeline just for the solo and mute buttons, or for the smart tool for that matter. And running a 3 monitor array for Composer is not an option either.

Well, I am not resentful because Avid didn't pick up our suggestions. It's more that they didn't implement ANY way to handle this. It would be so easy to realize this and you can't tell me, that editors have no need for this. It is very common to have 6-12 audio tracks in a sequence. Enabling and disabling the mute/solo will eventually drive you crazy. I think, most of the editors are just too lazy to address that issue in a forum.

This worked for me without any problems. The only caveat is that with the generic USB driver loaded, your device Input/Output names will also be generic in your apps. My M-Track input tracks are named "Port_#0001.Hub_#0003 1/Port_#0001.Hub_#0003 2".

This is because the driver input and output info is installed when using the factory drivers, but ultimately this is not a problem since the tracks are still numbered, just something I wanted everyone to be aware of.

It provides up to 54db of gain. Whether or not that's loud enough for you is up to how loud and close you are to the microphone, as well as how sensitive the podmic is. If it's not quite up to your standards you can get an inline amp and power it with the phantom power provided by the m-track solo.

The M-Track Solo audio interface is best suited for beginners looking to start recording some music for the first time. Perhaps the more experienced folk could benefit from having one of these lying around for tracking some demos.

Each Audio Track Mixer track corresponds to a track in the timeline of the active sequence and displays the Timeline audio tracks in an audio console layout. Each vertical column in the Audio Track Mixer, as seen in the image below, is labeled Audio1, Audio2, Audio3, and so on. These are the same exact audio tracks that exist in the normal editing timeline.

Panning audio means to direct a sound signal to a different part of the stereo field. This basically means panning controls how each track is balanced between right (R) and left (L) sides of where the audio is being heard from. So, if you move it all the way to the right, you can hear the audio for that track only on the right side of your headphones or speakers.

If it is set to write, it will rewrite whatever you play over. Set it back to read once you are done. You can view audio clip keyframes by double clicking the audio track in the timeline. Click the diamond icon on the left hand side and select track keyframe volume. For more information, see Adjust track volume with keyframes.

If the Track Effects are not visible in the Audio Track Mixer, click the tiny arrow in the upper left corner of the Audio Track Mixer. You can apply and combine audio effects like EQ, reverb, and compression to entire tracks.

You must go to the M-Audio website and download and then install the appropriate driver! When using the guitar input jack on the front panel set your audio track for mono/input 2. Post back and let us know that you've sorted this out or if you need more help. - Emile

I have a feeling that this is not the problem because you said you were seeing a level somewhere. The most common mistake I've made is not setting my Logic audio is not having Input 2 selected in a mono track, so I'll reiterate this, make sure you've set up an audio track like this and enable the record buttonĀ  on the selected channel. Please confirm that your track is setup like this. - Emile 2351a5e196
