I've recently purchased a Lenovo Yoga 13 and put Ubuntu 13.04 on it last night. I was unable to get wireless to come on and thought that I would mess around with it today. Today I have followed the detailed 'how-to' at: -the-realtek-rtl8723ae-bt-wi-fi-card-to-work-on-a-lenovo-yoga-13-on-linux-mint-13-ubuntu-12-10/The problem is I can not download and install the required headers as I do not have ANY internet connection on this device.Is there any way for me to get them on a flash drive and bring them to the Lenovo?

Update: as of 14.10 utopic, there is a semi-working driver included by default, but it frequently disconnects and has difficulty reconnecting. The best solution is to continue to build the lwfinger driver as described below and then blacklist the driver included in Ubuntu.

Post #6 here, although it is for a different driver, describes the process to download and install linux-headers and build-essential on a flash drive, transfer them to the Yoga and install them. =2050126 It is cumbersome and tedious, but it can be done.

TLDR; Question + ideal situation: why does the nouveau driver cause system freezes after some (random?) time? How might I further inspect this? I hope to run Wayland + Sway in the future

Problem:

I would like to switch to Wayland to improve multi-monitor support on my system: using the 3K laptop monitor with a 1080p external monitor is challenging - scaling the windows is very difficult / annoying.

However, NVIDIA drivers are not officially supported on Wayland.

So far, I've tried starting Sway with the NVIDIA drivers using the 'unsupported' option from tty --> this does not work: Sway immediately identifies the NVIDIA drivers being installed and cancels launching.

This is also the case when starting Sway from tty after making sure that the integrated AMD drivers are active (using optimus-manager).

I've swapped the NVIDIA drivers for the nouveau drivers, and again tried running Sway --> this works, but after some (random?) time (5-10 minutes; maybe sooner), the system would freeze completely.

This behaviour of the nouveau driver is documented in the Arch Wiki (Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro X (Video).

Unfortunately, no information as to why these freezes occur, is provided.

Whenever I launch Unreal Engine 5, the software crashes immediately. I have tried reinstalling the software and updating all the drivers, but the problem persists. I have also tried running the software in compatibility mode and with administrative privileges, but to no avail.

This all helped though. But for me, I had to go to device manager and i saw a Wacom human interface device with a ?. I tried to update the driver automatically, no worky. I did the manual update and the touchscreen started working!!! good luck

Few methods may helpful to troubleshoot this issue.

1.After open Device Manager, under Human Interface Devices section find HID-compliant touch screen. Right click it disable and then re-enable.

2.Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > launch the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter. Check if it could fix.

3.According to your machine model, go to lenovo's official website to download Touch Screen Driver to reinstall.

4. Is this a new problem recently? Check for update if some security updates need to be installed. This could update Windows OS version and system files.

5.Contact Lenovo support to test if it is related to hardware.

I have looked all over the internet, tried all kinds of fixes, uninstalled, reinstalled, and updated drivers, tried other drivers, and device manager says that everything works fine. I want to try use Ubuntu to see if that'll work, but never used ubuntu on a tablet nor ever tried installing it on a tablet, so I am unsure in that area. 17dc91bb1f
