I've had this laptop for a couple months now but recently it seems I'm no longer able to adjust the screen brightness anymore. I'm running the latest Windows 10 update and no matter how I try to adjust the display brightness it doesn't seem to have any effect. The FN+F5/F6 keys don't do anything and the Windows 10 brightness settings have no effect either. Plus even when the battery is low and it goes to power saver mode, the screen brightness still doesn't change and seems to be permanently stuck at a high brightness setting. The exact model of my Legion Slim 7 is 15ACH6.

I tried different tools for windows to adjust the backlight brightness, some using the IOCTL_VIDEO_QUERY_DISPLAY_BRIGHTNESS Interface and some using the WmiMonitorBrightness Class. All of some don't work.

Please bear in mind that our graphics drive does not offer any brightness control feature. If you are unable to use Function keys after loading windows or loading Intel graphics driver, it might be that your computer model requires drivers directly from your computer manufacturer. Those drivers need to interact with the graphics V-BIOS and any power management settings your computer may offer.

I have fitted an ssd and upgraded my Lenovo G575 Laptop from Windows 7 64 bit to Windows 10 64 bit. Everything was working fine except that I cannot adjust the screen brightness with the driver that Windows 10 has installed. I can make the brightness indicator move up and down with the laptop function keys or from Windows settings, but this has no effect at all on the brightness.

I'm not sure if I should leave the driver Microsoft chooses dated 2015 (Video works) and try and fix the brightness problem, or install the Windows 8 version dated 2012 (brightness works) and try and fix the video problem.

I have Ubuntu 20.04 installed on my Lenovo Y7000P2020H laptop alongside Windows 10. I can adjust my screen brightness in Windows but not in Ubuntu 20.04. Neither the fn keys nor the brightness scroll bar works.

In my Lenovo G500 laptop after installing Windows 10 I couldn't adjust the screen brightness. And I couldn't see the Generic PnP Monitor option under the Monitor section of my device manager list. I had installed the Intel HD 4000 Graphics and AMD Radeon Graphics drivers. Enabling and disabling it doesn't help either.

But the thing is I haven't installed the Intel Chipset Driver software. After installing the motherboard driver software I was able to adjust the screen brightness after a system restart. And now under Display settings Windows has the Screen brightness slider added. Also the shortcut to increase and decrease using F11 and F12 also works. You can also click the battery icon near the tray and change the battery percentages to 0%, 25%, 75% & 100%. These options were not enabled before installing the motherboard(Chipset) drivers.

For me, I only have acpi_video0 in /sys/class/backlight. The content of the brightness file changes when I try to change the brightness using the fn keys or through the UI, but the actual screen brightness stays the same.

I removed all additional parameters from GRUB.

I also note that the battery life is absurd. It takes from 100% to 10% in 2 hours just for Youtube streaming while doing GIMP with max screen brightness + 165Hz refresh rate. In Windows 10, this roughly takes 4 hours.

As I was meaning to say earlier, the value in the /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness file (and the actual_brightness file) will change when I change my brightness via function keys or the sys tray slider, but my screen stays at 100% brightness. And I have a similar ideapad folder linked there after rebooting with the acpi_backlight=vendor Grub command-line option, with similar problems.

I have dual boot Win10 and Archlinux on Lenovo Legion 5i. Everything seems to work fine except screen brightness control. The brightness control and brightness hotkeys work fine on Windows 10, while Archlinux boots with the last brightness level set in Windows and without possibility to change.
