DP01 protects the dome of the pyranometer during transport, installation and removal. Its purpose is to reduce the risk of accidental damage to the pyranometer domes. Our service records show that replacement of scratched and broken domes are a significant contributor to the total cost of ownership. Protecting the pyranometer dome reduces costs and increases measurement accuracy and reliability.

I have done quite a bit of research on good screen protectors for the Note 20 Ultra. I was conflicted for a while on going for a TPU film protector or a tempered glass one (AmFilm and Whitestone Dome being my only choices as I wouldn't like the visible circle of adhesive over the fingerprint scanner). Now I am more inclined to get a tempered glass one as I feel like the TPU ones will have some issues with indentation due to use of the S Pen, even though they have some self healing properties. And in doing research on tempered glass screen protectors, I found that AmFilm has these bumps (i think) situated on the bottom to help the adhesive spread properly and I heard that they are visible in some conditions, so I would prefer not getting AmFilm. Now that brings me to Whitestone Dome, and based on reviews, I have heard many mixed things but I think a lot can be chalked up to user error. That being said, I'm still curious how safe/effective the speaker sticker is in keeping the adhesive out of the earpiece at the top. Also, for anyone who has installed the whitestone dome, or has it in hand even, do you have any pictures of a before and after, with the display on, as I would like to see how much the blue light filter affects the color of the screen.

TLDR: After a lot of research on screen protectors I am thinking of picking the Whitestone Dome but I am wondering how good the sticker for the earpiece is at keeping the adhesive out during the installation. Additionally, for anyone who has installed the Whitestone Dome or has it with them, can you share before-and-after pictures of the phone with the screen on, so I can see the effect of the blue light filter (if you haven't installed it, just putting the glass protector over the bare screen while on will do)

Some of you may have heard about the Whitestone Dome Glass screen protector. It's a product that claims to solve the common problems of glass screen protectors on curved screens by giving you full coverage adhesive. For those who don't know, for the last couple of years, none of the curved glass screen protectors have had full adhesive. All of them have only had adhesive on the edges. This is because without absolutely perfect alignment, the installation simply would not work correctly with full adhesive. Whitestone Dome is different. They've come up with a new way to get full adhesive coverage.

In the box is the screen protector, an alignment tray with a bottom and top section, three alcohol cleaning wipes, two cleaning cloths, a tube of UV activated acrylic adhesive, a USB powered UV lamp, and a few other pieces to aid with adhesive application and alignment, as well as an instruction sheet and a link to an installation video. Watch that installation video. I watched it twice before intalling, and again while I was doing the installation. You should also read that instruction book and make sure you know the timings for everything. Basically, you clean your screen, lock it into the installation tray, place the top cover on and lock in the bushing, screw the adhesive tube into the bushing, wait 30 seconds for the adhesive to drain out. Then, you remove the top cover, place the alignment brackets, put on the protector, and wait 80 seconds for the adhesive to spread. Then, you use the UV lamp to cure the adhesive for 20 seconds, clean off the edges, cure the adhesive for another 10 seconds, clean your phone, and you're done.

The protector is partially case friendly. It works well with my Spigen Neo Hybrid. The manufacturer says that it will not work with some large or hard cases, and they answer case compatibility questions on Amazon if you have a specific case you want to know about. I would recommend a case with the protector. The edges aren't rounded, so they'll feel a little sharp if you're using it without a case.

Removability has been a big question with this protector as well, and while I obviously haven't tried to remove it, based on my experience installing it, I don't anticipate major issues in removing it if the need arises. The manufacturer says that alcohol will remove the adhesive, and I'm inclined to believe them, because alcohol had no issues loosening and removing the extra bits of adhesive that were hanging over the edges after installation was complete.

One of the first things I noticed about the tempered glass before applying it was how thin it was. I've used their tempered glass screen protectors on the S8+, S9+, and Note9, and the S22 Ultra one is noticeably thinner.

The installation process went well. You shouldn't have any issues as long as you follow their instructions. Something worth pointing out is that the alignment of the protector isn't perfect. It becomes extremely obvious after application when you look at the front-facing camera. I'm also annoyed at how the camera cut-out goes below the status bar, and also has a slight rainbow effect when you look at it.

The biggest problem with this screen protector is that it chips/cracks on its own. It happened to me after about a month of use, where the tempered glass inexplicably chipped on the side. I have yet to drop this phone since owning it, and I always take extra care of my electronics in general. I didn't think much of it until the same thing happened to a friend that also hasn't dropped their phone and takes very good care of their electronics. This prompted me to do a quick search on Amazon for reviews, and I was able to find 8 people with the same issue in a few minutes. Some other people on reddit have also reported the same issue 1 and 2. The worst part about this is that the warranty replacement costs more than the product, at least in Canada. You have to pay 23.99 USD (~31 CAD) for one protector even though a new kit (that includes 2 protectors) costs 45-50 CAD on Amazon. Couple that with the fact that you'll probably experience the same chipping issue eventually, it doesn't make much sense to buy the product to begin with, let alone pay for a replacement.

Moving on to the fingerprint scanner, it's mostly fine. I have an S21 Ultra without any protector to compare with side-by-side, and I definitely notice a difference. The protector interferes with unlocking when your fingers are dry and wet. Sometimes you'll need to apply extra pressure if your fingers are dry, and even then it might not work. I had a similar experience with the AmFilm on my S21 Ultra, so I don't think it's avoidable.

When the S10 series initially released, Whitestone Dome were among the first manufacturers to make claims that their screen protector was the only solution of being a tempered glass screen protector that was compatible with the fingerprint sensor.

The reason manufacturers have had such difficulty creating a proper tempered glass screen protector for the Galaxy phones is because of the nature of their physically curved display, and now the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Because ultrasonic fingerprint technology works by producing sound waves to validate your fingerprint, its accuracy is more likely to be affected by any materials blocking it- namely the glue/adhesive and thickness of glass screen protectors.

EDIT: Adding on to this, it's why Samsung made the choice to use a film screen protector as a pre-installed option on the S10/Note 10 series. Film protectors are incredibly thin and use a relatively minimal amount of adhesive compared to its tempered glass counterparts.

Thanks for the feedback! I should have mentioned your point about cold weather and dryness - that's definitely something that has impacted its accuracy as opposed to when I had the factory installed protector still on. Face Unlock on this phone is so darn fast so I've also kept mine on, but this screen protector for the most part is a go!

Well luckily I purchased these with my credit card and one off Amazon, so I did get my money back for both. But just wanted to let you guys know that I had this happen to me twice with this same protector and for the price of $45+ with NO warranty, that is unacceptable. I also want to note that this is the best screen protector I have ever used in any phone and there is almost a zero difference in clarity between using this and going bare screen. I am not sure if anybody else had this problem, but please share if you do.

I never thought of myself as a hippie. In high school, I was the guy with tape on his glasses proudly wearing a plastic pocket protector to physics class. But my first two years at UC Davis had loosened me up more than a little, so in the spring of 1972 I joined a band of merry pranksters who had been plotting to build their own student housing.

Our summer of building the domes had severe ups and downs. We were a bunch of ragtag iconoclasts, impatient to get things done, dealing with a highly structured, status-conscious university bureaucracy, which is slow-moving by design. We were working with some new and unproven technology, and very few of us had much, if any, construction experience.

Since I know I would be standing around in the cold all day, I made sure to wear lots of layers. Today I wore on my legs one pair thin long underwear, one pair thick long under wear, fleece pants and wind breaker pants. On top I wore two thin long under wear tops, one thick long underwear top, a light down jacket and a big down jacket with hood. On my head I had a hat, neck gator and goggles with nose protector. I also wore 2 pairs of gloves and lots of sunscreen. All of this kept me warm for the day. It takes me 15 minutes just to put on all of my clothes in the morning. The layers keep me very warm since they trap air. 2351a5e196
