Download Dolphin Ubuntu

This site simply says to just paste a series of codes. I did exactly that, word for word. I even took the step to enable "Universe Repository" like it said to, but every time it says dolphin-emu has no instillation candidate. I followed the build instructions, but no avail.

Optionally you can change the install prefix by adding "-DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/new/path". Note that this path does not need to be absolute. cmake will complete it to its absolute equivalent. The default prefix is "/usr". This means that the executable will be installed as "/usr/bin/dolphin-emu", the plugins will be installed into "/usr/lib/dolphin-emu", and the shared data files will be installed into "/usr/share/dolphin-emu".

Put this script in any directory, preferably a subdirectory of the Home directory, such as ~/.scripts/dolphin

Within this directory, the script will create two subdirectories, dolphin-emu and build. It must remain in this directory to work.

Execute the script from anywhere, by running sh /path/to/the/script.sh, where /path/to/the/script.sh is replaced with the actual path to the script.

The script will download Dolphin's source, or update it if it has already been downloaded once. After building it, the script will install it. This requires root privileges. After the installation, the script exits, and Dolphin can be used. Note that the process is very fast and simple after the first time. Using a bash alias to execute the script by running a custom command such as dolphin-update is recommended.

I have installed Dolphin file browser(dolphin 18.12.3) on plasma(5.15.2) (ArchLinux). I would like to know how to set win + E (meta + E) shortcut to launch Dolphin browser. I already tried setting it as shortcut in System Settings->Global Shortcuts->Application Launchers. But shortcut is not working as expected.Is there an other way to set it up? Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

(Dolphin file manager with integrated terminal and right-panel preview on Ubutu 19.04)

Dolphin is file manager from KDE we can compare to Nautilus from GNOME. Dolphin has a lot of features Nautilus doesn't such as internal terminal and split vertical. Not to mention, unlike Nautilus, it supports a lot of third-party plugins like my 2016' Right-Click Batch Converter. In case you wish to change your file manager to Dolphin instead of Nautilus, but without removing any one, here's the way. I wish your life will be easier with this.

Install Dolphin

$ sudo apt-get install dolphin konsole

Note:

dolphin is the package name of the file manager wished. konsole is the KDE terminal emulator to enable integrated terminal within Dolphin window. dolphin-plugins is additional functionalities such as "Copy To/Move To" for Dolphin. Default behaviour of Dolphin with this installation is double-click (following Ubuntu) and not single-click (so, unlike its original default) on Ubuntu 19.04.

Make It Default

How do you access your file manager usually? By clicking its icon on left panel? By pressing Super+E combination key? Okay, that's the default. Let's change it.

On Unity and GNOME desktop:

Run DolphinDolphin appears as icon on your left panelRight-click Dolphin > Lock to Launcher > Dolphin locked > drag and drop it to the top of left panel.Right-click Nautilus > Unlock from Launcher > Nautilus gone.Now everytime you click the file manager icon, Dolphin runs instead of Nautilus. (Now, after configuring, the top icon on left panel is Dolphin and not nautilus anymore)

For the shortcut keys, it's the same to Unity and GNOME as well:

Go to System Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts.Select Custom Shortcuts.Click "plus" button ("+") > a dialog appears.Insert name "Dolphin" > insert command "dolphin" without quotes > OK > new entry with empty combo key appears > associate it with the keys Super+E (press hold Win key while pressing E key).Now every time you pressed Super+E you run Dolphin.

In Dolphin (KDE file browser) when you press F4, docked terminal is showing up and pointing to the current dolphin path. Nautilus for ubuntu has similar extension but can't find anything for Thunar. Only way is to use right click and "Open in terminal"

Thank you!! This is still broken in Kubuntu 17.10 / KDE 5.10 . Seriously wtf. Appreciate you documenting the workaround as I never would have tried disabling the search feature to use the search feature.

Ah yes, a fellow GC nerd, I too have compiled dolphin for my Rock5 and from source RetroArch and cores. GC from what I can see, just runs significantly better on android. Devo'd, there was some wayland support worked on years ago but it stopped.

If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool -emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)

I am migrating from ubuntu mate 20.04 to manjaro (kde). Thunderbird is installed, version 94.4.1. I have read the documentation on migrating a profile, here I copied my old profile to the new system, and put the file in ~/.thunderbird. However, when I start Thunderbird, it starts the account setup procedure, and creates new profiles in .thunderbird. I have also tried copying the whole file .thunderbird from old to new computer with the same result. 17dc91bb1f
