I installed dolphin (18.12.2-1) as file manager (for most the things I use "ls" but sometimes a preview is helpful) in i3wm on an Archlinux and would like to be able to change the background color or the font color of it.

I had once an application which I am not able to find anymore with which I was able to setup the theme for Okular (some dark theme) but I forgot its name and because kde/qt seems not to be part of its name I am not able to find it anymore. But still I would like to keep the dark theme but still solve the dolphin problem because white on white is not readable especially not if the two white colors are exactly the same.

I was using "qt5ct" to change the theme and I just activated in this configuration tool all available style sheets now the background in dolphin is dark/black and I can read the text underneath the icons. Everything else seems to stay unchanged.

so that the qt apps use the qt5ct app settings (if you do not do that qt5ct will complain that this variable's value is currently gnome). This made most of the app be dark except for the view pannel which was white with light font.

There still remained a blue border around the view (If you have two dolphin tabs in split view, the color we picked and the blue border appear only in the focused tab. #2E2E2E makes the focused tab stand out by being darker and it seems enough for me and more inline with the default files manager. IMO the blue border and blueish hue to the background are superfluos and detract from the overall theme). So I did the following step.

Did you try to use force DPI for fonts in systemsettings -> fonts?

(Hope I translated correctly because my language settings are set to german)

That should enlargen all fonts on your presumably KDE desktop.

I've been using KDE and Dolphin for 10 or 12 years, but not until last night did I realize you can set the font for each of the three views (icon, compact, detailed) independently, and that these fonts are themselves independent of system fonts!

This is really nice to my mind, because files are much better viewed in a monospace font (I'm currently using Noto Mono, but there are many, many alternatives), but I really don't want to see anything else except terminals in such a font. And I'd just always assumed doing this required changing the system fonts -- and I don't want to have a mono font everywhere.

Did you try restarting plasma after making the changes?

for me - the steps you describe above change the font size in dophin (in Tumbleweed with plasma 5.19)

Perhaps you could try Tumbleweed or even 15.2 beta that both have newer versions of plasma

Thanks for your reply, farcusnz, but even after restarting the desktop (logout - login) the font size is small and back to 10 even though I had changed it to 20 before. I will try it in Tumbleweed on my laptop but the computer for the TV should not run tumbleweed. But to me this looks like a software fault which hopefully is fixed in the new version when Leap15.2 comes out.

Thank you, dcurtisfra, the problem is now solved. Yes the problem was that when you open the settings window it shows the default settings and not your actual settings. In my case I always select the Detailed Vew mode but when reopening the setting window (Vew Mode) shows the default Icon View mode. I assumed the font settings below apply to all modes but they only apply to the view mode which is selected above - no matter what view is selected. So reselecting the detailed view mode (which I have anyway) and then selecting custom and font size changed the font size in my view mode.

I'm missing some font previews for KDE's Dolphin file manager. So far, I've managed to get most of everything I need installed by following this article here on the wiki: _previews , but for the life of me, I just can't get one final preview to manifest on my system, which I've been building from scratch. TTF font files aren't appearing as they should (as opposed to a fully functioning KDE DE) and I didn't really see anything about this on the wiki.

After installing and testing KDE's Dolphin for a while the font rendering (or maybe anti-aliasing?) in non-GTK (e.g. Chrome and Thunderbird) programs looks strange. Playing around with QT(4) and KDE settings didn't help.

Like Rmano guessed I had to delete ~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf which included (wrong) settings for the antialiasing of fonts. Any problematic program started after deleting that file, rendered the fonts right again.

Bold fonts for True Font magnified text is turned off as default. To ensure your True Font magnified text is even easier to read; turn on Bold fonts for True Font magnification using hotkey RIGHT SHIFT + NUM PAD 8 or at: SuperNova Control Panel > Visual > Advanced > Font Enhancements.

Maximise the clarity of magnified text and graphics on Windows 10, Firefox, Chrome and your other apps, with bold fonts. Choose low, medium or the high bold setting and the magnified text and graphics come alive and easier to read. Ideal for apps and websites that use light fonts with thin lettering.

Due to copyright concerns, Dolphin is unable to include official GameCube fonts, and instead uses Droid Sans. Unfortunately, Droid Sans does not align well with the size/kerning of the official GameCube font, which can cause text to be misplaced, dialogs to display improperly, and other issues due to differing text sizes.

I did some searching on the internet and found that there is an issue with this game displaying the fonts but apparently a fix for the dolphin emulator is to install the Gamecube bios under the following directory (C:\Users#NAMEHERE#\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\GC\USA, but what is the equivalent path in retroarch?

normally i use kubuntu 16.04, but kde/plasma something is a little bit strange. so i installed xubuntu 16.04 and dolphin (for me the best file manager on linux). when i select a folder in folder view all is ok, the text is white with blue border. but when i move the mouse over the selected folder i can't see the text anymore. the text is white and the border also. this only happens in dolphin (as i can say). in an other forum i've read that this has something to do with the "glowing" effect in kde?

dolphin was installed with the whole kubuntu destop (i found out that thats the best solution instead of installed just 'some' parts of kde/plasma). after that i installed qt5ct 0.21 and changed the font type and size. after restarting dolphin with 'QT_STYLE_OVERRIDE=fusion dolphin' dolphin looks like before i changed the settings.

I have to change the symbols in xfce setting from default to oxygen because with the default symbols there are some buttons in dolphin without a symbol (compact and detail view). Can i start dolohin using oxygen and change the settings fir xfce back to default?

Note: The product you are purchasing is a digitized embroidery designs file or monogram font set. You must have the proper embroidery software to work with these files and a means and knowledge to transfer the files from your computer to your machine. If you are unsure of what you are purchasing please email me with questions.

The last 2 allowed successful change of font & aliasing. Appearance (icons/themes/colours/app style) appeared in System Settings as per regular KDE & whonix 13. Changes could be made in the settings but they are not applied to the actual OS.

The Music of Dolphins, by Karen Hesse, is a children's book that follows the story of Mila, a feral child raised by a pod of dolphins around the Florida Keys and Caribbean. "Mila" is an abbreviated form of the Spanish word milagro, meaning "miracle".

The novel uses a narrative structure that parallels Mila's increasing comprehension of the English language. At the novel's opening, when Mila is with the dolphins and cannot speak English, the book is written in a different font and more complex writing. This is representative of Mila's thoughts more so than her actual writing abilities. The text moves to simple English as Mila learns the language, becomes more complex as her emotions increase, and reverts to simple English when she yearns for the dolphins. There are a few inclusions of newspaper articles or other pieces written in third person, but the book is predominantly written in first person.

Mila, a girl raised by dolphins, is discovered and captured on a cay and taken to a scientific research facility. She progresses quickly and meets Shay, another feral child who looks like Mila. Shay is a quiet girl. As more time passes, Mila falls in love with music and a boy named Justin, and wonders why she progresses so quickly while Shay does not. Shay is sent to another facility and a doctor explains to Mila that of all the feral children that have been studied, Mila is the only one who has continued progressing. Soon, Mila finds her newfound knowledge slipping away and regresses. She requests to be released back to the ocean and, after some discussing among her caregivers, she is returned to the ocean to reunite with her dolphin family. 17dc91bb1f
