@saurabhj HDMI in general is not powered by DisplayLink. This dock is configured so the two DisplayPorts are handled by DisplayLink chip and HDMi is powered by Alt-Mode. There are priorities set for this particular dock so if you have only two monitors connected (could be HDMI and one DP monitor) it should be handled by DisplayLink but connecting 3 external monitors will always have the HDMI port work as Alt-mode and not DisplayLink. I am not sure how those priorities work but it is possible that it will fail in some cases / with certain firmware version as it did not have those priorities from the start.Now DisplayLink added f.lux support to their MacOS driver, you can add Night Shift registry entry to be able to get some f.lux like functionality in Windows: -how-to-enable-night-light-or-f-lux-on-displaylinkI haven't tried any color calibration apps - I think some basic color calibration can be done but I would not bet on it.

Now to the problem: Around 80% of the time when a new mac is setup and runs the displaylink policy, the policy "seems" to fail (the policy log claims it has "failed" and we even get the concurring mail "an error occured while running the policy "Install DisplayLink Manager".") However... DisplayLink Manager is installed successfully every time.

Yes, install evdi-dkms separately before running the displaylink*.run script. All this on a fresh installation (i.e. before attempting to install any DisplayLink package). To be on a safe side, do a sudo apt install dkms even before installing evdi-dkms.

So there appear to be some remnants left, but when I search for DisplayLink in Spotlight, I get no results (just links to Wikipedia, etc). So how can I completely remove com.displaylink.displaylinkmanager?

sudo displaylink-debian.sh uninstall and follow the instructions. All those having issues with "Missing component: Linux headers for running kernel, 4.9.0-6-amd64." should use this as well, you will receive the same error but it appears to continue with the uninstall to completion.

It seems like just having (in the case of X11)

services.xserver.videoDrivers = [ "displayLink" "modesetting" ]

is enough to get this to work along with following the instructions that print out in the terminal when doing the nixos-rebuild about downloading the driver from the displaylink website, manually adding it to the store via nix-prefetch-url, and redoing the nixos-rebuild step.

No chrome flags, just a standard install. The only thing screen-wise is I am using DisplayLink manager for 2 of my 4 screens. Interestingly the issue does not occur on the screen built into the mac, but does occur on the native HDMI screen and the 2 screens controlled by DisplayLink manager. ff782bc1db
