It can be accessed from any device (computer, laptop, smartphone or tablet).

Students and staff members of Maastricht University, MUMC+ and AV-M have off-campus access to resources licensed by the University Library, like databases, e-journals and e-books, using one of the following methods.

Run a search using the main search box on the Resources page. Starting from the library website ensures you will not encounter a paywall for online resources already available to you through the library. You will be prompted to log in using your UM/MUMC+/AV-M account, before accessing a licensed online resource.

Add the Lean Library browser extension to your internet browser. It helps you gain access when you are browsing websites with resources you need access to. For more information, visit the Lean Library Browser Extension service page for instructions and to download the extension.

Student Desktop (SD) / Student Desktop Anywhere (SDA) provides remote access for students with a Windows desktop environment without the need to install any software. SD(A) offers all-in-one access to the Online Library, I-drive, Office 2016, and various other software like Atlas.ti, Complete Anatomy, EndNote, SPSS, MATLAB, and R, as well as faculty specific applications.

Use software provided in Student Desktop at all study places equipped with a computer at the University Library locations. With your own device, you can access Student Desktop Anywhere remotely on- and off-campus (web login).

The software offered by the University Library can be divided into generic applications for all UM students and faculty-specific applications. Individual faculty members can request specific software for teaching. Such software can be made accessible for students of that particular faculty. This means that what exactly is available to individual students might change over time. Check this list to find out which software is available in SD(A).

For more information, please check the ICTS manual. If you are off-campus, you will need to log in with your UM account in order to gain access to these manuals. The UM VPN is serviced by the ICT Service Centre.

SURF, the Dutch national organization for the support of higher education, offers more software for purchase, sometimes at reduced prices for students and staff of Dutch universities. Go to the SURF website for more information and to see what software is available.

After log-in - icons on the left of the window represent the different types of virtual computers that you have access to at that time.  To access the virtual desktop double-click an icon. (Use your University email address and password.)

Printing - You can share your local drives and printers which allows you to upload files or print from any applications to your local printer.

Teaching virtual desktops are for the duration of a specific class and after the class in the evening. They will usually have additional applications installed, or be configured in a way different to Open Access desktops s defined by the course tutor.

Many of the applications used in teaching are available in the Open Access desktops too.

Staff virtual desktops are available to staff and postgraduate research students only. This service replaces the remote access service known as SSD Remote with access to a wider range of software as well as improving security.

If you're using a UDS computer Desktop Anywhere (formerly known as Citrix) will already be installed on it. However, Desktop Anywhere can be downloaded on your Apple product, whether it is a laptop or desktop.

The capability provides virtualized desktops and applications through the cloud, allowing users to access work on their personal laptops rather than relying on government-provided computers. Early adopters in the National Guard and Reserve have been using it for about a month.

Join us June 25 and 26 at 1 p.m. EST for Federal News Network's Cloud Exchange, presented by Maximus, where we'll explore civilian agency progress in using the cloud to improve digital services and federal missions. | Register today!

The Army is also testing technologies that will allow soldiers and employees to use their personal mobile devices to connect with government systems. The service began piloting a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) solution with National Guard and Reserve units last year.

Attachments to email (and to staff website articles) which are marked "campus or remote access only" can be read from anywhere provided you log into the university network through Citrix to pick up the email or open the website.

Once you've logged in, use the links which then appear to access your email or to open Internet Explorer. You will then be "on campus" as far as the computer is concerned: you don't have to be physically present on campus yourself.

The first time you visit the RMAS web page you may be prompted to install a Citrix plug-in installation or upgrade. If you need instructions on what to do if this happens, these can be found on the IT website.

Upgrade and manage your existing PCoIP Remote Workstation Cards or buy more from our OEM partners to harness the power of high-end towers, blade servers, or rack workstations and connect users anywhere to their graphics intensive applications, designs, and images.

Shared Desktop Accessible from any device, and provides the ability to access UABFile and Network printers. Shared desktops are equipped with Microsoft's Office suite including OneDrive for file syncing and sharing. Usage instructions are provided at login. All staff should have access to a shared desktop automatically, but you can learn more here.

Provides functionality exactly like a traditional desktop computer and can be accessed from any device. All user-installed software on this Virtual Machine will be permanent, as will any documents saved locally. For Desktop supported customers, all network drives and printers will map automatically. There are multiple options available when requesting one of these Virtual Machines. This is to ensure that the resources allocated are adequate for the work being done. Request a personal virtual desktop.

Provides a shared environment that can be used to run applications that are normally installed on individual desktops. This allows the applications to be updated one time for everyone using it. This option allows multiple users to be logged in at one time, and each will have their own profile and settings. Request a departmental virtual desktop.

Similar to the Departmental Desktop option with one main difference. Instead of a user having a full desktop experience when logging in, they are only presented with a single application window. A department can request multiple applications be published. Each could be launched independently and would appear as if they were running on the user's local computer. Departmental IT staff can request a published application.

Army BYOD enables personnel to work remotely through two enterprise capabilities for Army mobile and virtual desktop infrastructure. Both capabilities are voluntary and best used in conjunction with one another to provide users with the ease and freedom of on-the-go mobile connectivity and the ability to access their full Army desktop and suite of Army 365 tools when needed for more in-depth work. 152ee80cbc
