If you have missing iPhone contacts, or have accidentally deleted them, hope is not lost! Apple has become loads better at helping keep your data secure, so your missing contacts may well be safe and sound in a backup of your iPhone on your computer or in iCloud.

If your iPhone is set to sync Contacts with iCloud, this option is available to you! iCloud has become a really handy tool for iPhone users, in that loads of files which you may not ordinarily be able to fit on your limited iPhone storage space can live in iCloud instead. It also means that you can easily sync your data between your Apple devices (e.g. accessing your contacts on both your iPhone and your MacBook)!

This also means that if some of your iPhone contacts have disappeared, you can just reach into the cloud and get them back. Below is how to use your iPhone to merge contacts from iCloud with iPhone. Check out method 4 if you would prefer to use iCloud in a browser to export your contacts to computer.

Once your contacts have been copied to your computer as vCard, you can import them to your contacts app such as Outlook. This keeps your contacts safe and accessible. You can then even sync your contacts to your iPhone using iTunes!

If you have backed up your iPhone to iTunes before, your contacts may be stored in your backup (If you don't remember creating a backup of your iPhone with iTunes, you may still have a backup! iTunes will create a backup of your iPhone any time you sync it with iTunes).

Contact Transfer allows you to connect your devices to your PC and easily move your contacts between them. This is great because these transfers are done locally on your PC, so you don't have to worry about using online services like iCloud.

The last method is the simplest one, but also the least robust. If you are only missing one or 2 crucial contacts from your iPhone, it may be easiest for you to obtain the missing information from friends.

Yesterday: I download Telegram again to join a support group for quarantined people in my area. My account still exists, but now Person A shows up in my Telegram contact list, although I have long deleted his number.

Thank you for reaching out to us through the Community. I am sorry to hear that you experienced this issue. It is possible to retrieve the contacts if they were on a specific list that you had emailed a campaign in the past. In order to locate the contacts, you would click on the "Reporting" tab located at the top of your navigation toolbar. Then, scroll down until you see the title of a specific campaign that you sent to that list. Click on the "Sent" number of contacts for that campaign. Once you have done that, you should be able to select the contacts that were removed and export them out to a spreadsheet which you can use to import them back in. I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any additional questions.

I, too, accidentally deleted the wrong duplicate name. I tried to follow your suggestion, but the name is crossed out and I am unable to click the box. The hover says This contact has been deleted. Any other way I can get this name back into my contacts?

I have (repeatedly) deleted contacts from BOTH my iMAC AND my iPhone. I then changed the information on my iMAC and synced again. Firstly over 60 contacts reappeared on my phone despite being on neither device. And in one case there are duplicate contacts on my iphone and neither is the same as the contact on my iMAC.

But before we go any further I would like to point out that I spent around 15 hours over 3 whole days on the phone with your support team trying to sort this out. We made NO progress with contacts -- we had to conclude it was broken and the support engineer couldn't understand it and promised to come back with a solution. This was several months ago.

So unless you have actually identified and sorted this bug, I would not suggested doing anything. You need to work out what is going wrong. How can deleted contacts reappear? This is even after removing them from BOTH my MAC and from my phone and then restoring them from back-ups. Deleted contacts on my MAC reappear on my phone, but not on the MAC.

My immediate issue: I have a contact, whose contact id in my system, no longer exists in InfusionSoft. How can I piece together the history of that contact ? Query to see if it was merged ? or deleted ?

Through conversation with Support, I have learned the contact in this situation was deleted in InfusionSoft app. So there is a way for Support (with Back-End tools) to be able to query for a Deleted Contact.

Deleted contacts need a filter so they can be viewed later. Hi all when you delete bounced contacts you cannot filter to relocate later. Deleted contacts should be able to be filtered so you can restore them later when you find out where they have found new employment

I agree, with the idea! We definitely should get a filter option for Organizations and Contacts. A workaround for meanwhile is to make a custom field " STATUS" and automation, when a contact is deleted it gets "Deleted" in the field.

To help minimize your chances of facing this problem, we offer automatic daily backups of your contacts to ensure you can quickly and easily restore data when needed. Your contacts will be safe from permanent deletion for 60 days when you use Contacts+, so act fast and get your data back where you need it.

I also have this problem, but when I try to compose a new email, there is no red X to the right of the email addresses,so I have no way to delete them using this procedure.I am using the latest free version of eM Client.I am POP3 only.I have no contacts on my server website, only in eMClient.

Given that the client has the purging of records turned off, am I missing a system setting that is indicating that Contacts should be hard-deleted? If it matters, they are deleting Contacts in the record view.

There's currently no API endpoint for soft-deleted records because as far as Sugar's concerned they're gone, but it'd be simple enough to create one. Here's the documentation for creating an endpoint:

Have your iPhone contacts disappeared or been deleted? This can be frustrating! Unfortunately, there is no built-in iPhone function allowing you to retrieve deleted contacts (like recovering recently deleted photos from the trash can). The good news is that if you'd like to recover deleted contacts, you can retrieve them from an iCloud backup, from a Mac backup, or from a Gmail account. We'll walk through how to recover contacts on your iPhone, even without access to a computer.

Important Note: While there are several free third-party software options that claim to recover deleted iPhone data, I recommend avoiding this option. Going this route means that you give this software access to your data, which can put your personal information at risk. In the end, your most secure options are to restore from iCloud, email, or a computer backup.

To use this data recovery method to retrieve your contacts, you will need to have access to an iPad or computer. You will also need to have an iCloud backup of your contacts from the time before they were deleted from your iPhone. Here's how to restore deleted contacts on your iPhone by restoring your Contacts app backup from iCloud:

If your deleted contacts were also saved in your Gmail contacts, getting them back on your iPhone is a simple process! You do not need a computer for this method, as you can sync your contacts via the Settings app. Here's how to get back deleted contacts saved in Gmail:

Now when you open your Phone or Contacts app, you'll see your saved Gmail contacts in the list. To learn more about your iPhone features and tips for backing up your data, consider signing up for our free Tip of the Day.

If you have a recent iCloud backup of your iPhone, but don't have access to a computer, you can still recover your deleted contacts from iCloud by erasing all data and restoring the recent backup. While this works if you have no other options, I've listed this method last as it is the most time-consuming and means that you will lose your most recent data (such as text messages and photos) from the time after your restored backup. This means if your last iCloud backup was three days ago, you will lose the last three days of data when you restore that backup.

In the end, I only recommend this method if a large number of needed contacts have disappeared and none of the above methods will work. If you do use this method, be sure to follow the steps in this article, which covers how to properly restore your recent iPhone backup from iCloud.

This method is similar to the one above, in that it requires you to delete all iPhone data, and then restore it from a recent backup. However, instead of restoring the backup from iCloud, you'll be restoring your iPhone from your Mac backup via Finder. However, this option also has the same downsides to the one above, in that it means you will lose your most recent data from before your last backup. Again, I only recommend this method as a last-ditch option, if you've deleted a large number of contacts and none of the above methods have worked. To restore Contacts from a Mac backup, follow the steps in this article to restore an iPhone backup from your Mac.

I hope this article helped you to restore your deleted iPhone contacts! If you haven't already, you might be interested in setting up automatic iCloud backups.
