Liverpool FC is one of several video publishers who participated in our LiveCut beta program. Earlier this summer, they leveraged it for a live broadcast of the 2019 UEFA Champions League trophy homecoming.

We understand how valuable SnappyTV is as part of the Twitter video ecosystem and are committed to helping our partners through the process of transitioning their video-clipping workflows to LiveCut.

Demonstrating his pull, Carlson recently posted a silence-breaking video to Twitter after his ignominious departure from Fox, with the tweet attracting more than 80 million views as of time of publication.

Looking at figures published by MediaITE the day after the Tucker Carlson clip was posted, 23 million people watched Fox News across its programming, far less than the total views for Carlson's tweet. About a day after Carlson posted, his tweet had been viewed 68.7 million times.

Further, the collation of television ratings and viewings is more complex, relying on households agreeing to share their viewing habits with Nielsen. Nielsen National TV data is the rating figure that is typically reported by the media.

Twitter metrics, on the other hand, are easier to monitor and set a low bar for what counts as a view. As explained by Twitter: "Anyone who is logged into Twitter who views a Tweet counts as a view, regardless of where they see the Tweet [e.g. Home, Search, Profiles, etc.] or whether or not they follow the author. If you're the author, looking at your own Tweet also counts as a view."

In addition to broadcasts of a Fox News show, its content will also be edited down and shared on sites like YouTube and Facebook as clips that would boost overall viewership beyond broadcast by millions.

Using "Average Audience Metrics," they are calculated by taking the total number of households or viewers that tuned in for each minute of a program, adding them together, then dividing by the total duration of the program in minutes.

For example, a 30-minute program would be calculated by taking the total household/viewer number for minutes 1, 2, 3...30, adding up all 30 numbers, then dividing by 30 for the average minute audience.

Although these kinds of ratings do not appear to be the basis of the claim made by @MattWallace888, it demonstrates the relative analytical rigor applied to viewership figures on television versus those recorded for a Twitter clip.

Further, Twitter's active daily users (thought to be somewhere around 200 million) is larger than Fox News' (as a television broadcast channel alone). It is further proof of why comparing the total viewership of Carlson's Twitter clip and the viewership of Fox News is not a like-for-like comparison.

However, the clip within it was viewed fewer times than the Fox News viewership total. Further, Twitter's larger user base, the reasons why people watched the clip, and the audience the clip could attract (even among those who might not have wanted to watch it) versus the reach of one broadcast news network, means this is not a like-for-like comparison.

Both websites work the same way. You'll need to use the Twitter website to copy the direct link to the tweet that contains the video you want to save, then paste it into the text field on either site, then click download.

SaveTweetVid will then ask you to pick from three different quality options. Click Download next to the size of the file you want to save and the clip will automatically begin downloading. Alternatively, you can scan the QR code at the bottom of the page to download the file on your phone or tablet.

After installing it, open it and go select your preferred settings. I set it to download videos at the highest resolution and to automatically begin downloading when I share or paste a link into the app.

With Download Twitter Videos setup, use the Twitter app to find a tweet that contains the video you want to save. Tap on the Share button and either select Copy link to Tweet or Share Tweet via. If you copied the link, leave the Twitter app, open Download Twitter Videos, and then paste the app into the text field at the top of the screen.

To view your downloaded videos, open the app and select the video you want to watch. You can then share it via another app, save it to your Photos app, or upload it to a cloud storage service for safekeeping.

After it's installed, open the Settings app on your phone or tablet and tap on Shortcuts in the list of options. Move the switch labeled Allow Untrusted Shortcuts to the On position. We have to take this extra step in order to install user-created Shortcuts that aren't listed in the Gallery section of the Shortcuts app.

With all of that done, open this link on your iPhone or iPad, then tap Get Shortcut. The Shortcut app will open, and show you everything the task does. For most of us, including myself, it's a bunch of gibberish. Just scroll to the bottom on tap on the red button labeled Add Untrusted Shortcut.

Finally, with all of that done, you can save a Twitter Video to your Photos app with just a couple of taps. Open the Twitter app and navigate to the tweet that has the video you want to save. Tap on the Share button, and then look for Twitter Video Downloader V2.6 in the list of options; tap it.

The Shortcut will launch, and a few seconds later you'll be asked if you want your copy of the video to be high, medium or low quality. Select your option, and then let the Shortcut do the rest of the work. When it's done, you can find the saved video in your Photos app.

What should be done if a video plays instead of downloading?

If you are on mobile, tap and hold the video until download option pops up. On desktop, right-click on the video and select Save Link as option.

Where can I find the files I downloaded on my device?

Videos that have been downloaded are saved in either the default storage folder or the folder that has been chosen for storage on your device .

Thank you for your reply.

Here's what I'm working with.

I am using the tweet new image action.

I'm only using Reddit to find the most popular twitch clips from the subreddit r/LiveStreamFail

I am then wanting the automation to pull the video. Using inspect element, I can find and download the video as an mp4 using the public URL for the file. I am wanting to know what trigger or app I can use to get that mp4 and then send it to the rest of the Zap.

I tried a python script, I got it to work locally on my computer, but I cannot figure out how to use it on Zapier, so I'm looking for an alternative to pulling the video.

If you add Google drive/another storage app onto your computer so it syncs with the online drive, you could use the Google Drive New File trigger. When your script adds downloads the file to the Google Drive folder, it would trigger a Zap and you could then add the Twitter Create Image tweet action to add that file to the Tweet.

Most all videos imbended in Twitter doe not play, If I pop the link out and find in youtube, it plays fine. All in sameFirefox browser on my old Win. XP machine. Seems to be getting worse, suspect it has something to do with HTML5 butdon't know how to check or update to a good player. And may be some interaction w/twitter how to isolate.before even trying to start video see "this browser does not support video playback" across image of video in twitter mssg. thx

On Windows XP, Firefox cannot decode MP4 media. On newer versions of Windows, it can use the Windows Media Foundation, but Microsoft never released that for XP. As a result, sites that have switched to using an HTML5 video player with MP4 media -- and do not automatically switch to a plugin like Flash when needed -- do not work in Firefox on Windows XP.

A alternative is to try dual booting with a recent linux distro to be more secure and to be able to play HTML5 video. Will need to make sure you have packages like FFmpeg installed. Do try a lighter desktop like XFCE instead of Gnome 3 or KDE.

There is a solution at last! If you force Firefox to use Adobe's Primetime Content Decryption plugin that is distributed by Mozilla using following instructions (Sorry too much side information of significance, can't just copy paste..) it fixes the problem!

- Firefox, Men, Complementos, Herramientas, Buscar actualizaciones. Esto hace que se instale automticamente el plugin "Mdulo de descifrado de contenido Primetime proporcionado por Adobe Systems, Incorporated" versin 17

One of the solution is userscript I created for greasemonkey. This script is showing direct link (or links) on the twitter video in the bottom of the player window. Then you can open this link with your browser media plugin, media player program, download manager, etc. 152ee80cbc
