Mr Neil, you have helped me with chemistry an extraordinary amount. The provision of FREE resources which would have taken you hours to complete in admirable, to say the least. The exam board specific, succinct notes have helped me beyond imagination. You, Sir Goalby are an angelic creature.

Aqa does not have a topic on sulfur and nitrogen. Any questions that appear on them are from topics like group 7 , redox or equilibria. The only syllabus that has a specific topic on these is CIE international A-level

Hi Sir,

Thanks a lot for all these notes, they are fantastic, especially when dealing with some of the tougher questions which are appearing on this new specification. I wondered if you had anything that would help with questions like in AQA Paper 2 2017 (10.6), when drawing cyclic compounds from straight chain compounds. It is possible i have missed something already in your notes, however i did not come across it.

Hello you have made a mistake on example 5 of the energetics questions on the aqa as level document you have talked about enthalpy change of formation when the question is about enthalpy change of combustion

Hi,

I think this is a brilliant resource and thank-you so much for taking the time to create it. I was wondering if there are similar compact revision notes for Physics or Biology?

Thanks again!

I am currently a year 13 student predicted 4 A* in Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Physics and am looking to do medicine next year. Throughout my sixth form journey, I have compiled hundreds of pages of beautiful digital notes made with my iPad for A-Level Triple Science. I have attached the image above for snapshot of just a few pages.

To share my notes with my fellow pupils in school, I have made a website factrecall.com where I have categorised all my notes into every individual subtopic and everyone can download PDF versions of each topic for free. The website is being updated daily as I export more and more of my notes onto the website.

Looking for revision notes that are specific to the exam board you are studying? If so, click the links below to view our condensed, easy-to-understand revision notes for each exam board, practice exam question booklets, mindmap visual aids, interactive quizzes, PowerPoint presentations and a library of past papers directly from the exam boards.

Thermochemistry is a branch of Thermodynamics, a scientific field that comprises the relationships between heat, work, and other forms of energy resulting from different chemical and physical processes. Thermochemistry itself is defined as energy changes when a chemical reaction takes place.

Acting as an exam prep roadmap, these A-Level Chemistry revision notes have been compiled to help you review key concepts, theories, and formulas. Broken down into topics and exam boards including AQA, CIE, Edexcel and OCR, these notes will help you understand even the hardest of topics and support retention of the information by using clear explanations and diagrams.

Start by creating a comprehensive revision plan that covers each topic in the syllabus. Focus on understanding the underlying principles before delving into specific details. Practice solving numerical problems and chemical equations to reinforce your problem-solving skills. Create summary notes or flashcards for key concepts, reactions, and equations. Use visual aids like molecular models or diagrams to grasp complex molecular structures. Regularly attempt past exam questions to assess your knowledge and hone your exam technique.

Before conducting experiments, thoroughly read and understand the procedure, noting key safety precautions. Maintain detailed lab notes, recording observations, measurements, and any deviations from expected outcomes. Familiarize yourself with common lab techniques and equipment. Practice data analysis, including error calculations and graphical representation. Prioritise safety throughout experiments and understand the principles behind each procedure. Review the theory behind practical experiments to better anticipate outcomes and explain your results.

Mastering theoretical concepts requires a systematic approach. Break down complex reaction mechanisms into step-by-step processes, highlighting key intermediates and electron movements. Practice drawing reaction mechanisms and molecular structures regularly to improve your visual memory. Use flashcards or mnemonic devices to remember key reactions and functional groups. Understand the underlying principles and trends, such as acid-base chemistry or resonance structures, to apply them across various reactions. Engage with challenging problems, discuss them with peers, and seek help from your chemistry teacher when needed.

These notes on Quantum Chemistry were written by Professor David Sherrill as a resource for students at the college through post-graduate level interested in quantum mechanics and how it is used in chemistry. A Brief Review of Elementary Quantum Chemistry has been used by college students and curious high-school students worldwide. Other notes have been used in the NSF Workshop on Theoretical and Computational Chemistry, a week-long workshop which introduces faculty at 2-year and 4-year colleges to modern techniques in chemical theory and computation for incorporation into their research, classroom teaching, and laboratory modules.

Green chemistry is the design of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the use or generation of hazardous substances. Green chemistry applies across the life cycle of a chemical product, including its design, manufacture, use, and ultimate disposal.

This is unlike cleaning up pollution (also called remediation), which involves treating waste streams (end-of-the-pipe treatment) or cleanup of environmental spills and other releases. Remediation may include separating hazardous chemicals from other materials, then treating them so they are no longer hazardous or concentrating them for safe disposal. Most remediation activities do not involve green chemistry. Remediation removes hazardous materials from the environment; on the other hand, green chemistry keeps the hazardous materials from being generated in the first place.

If a technology reduces or eliminates the hazardous chemicals used to clean up environmental contaminants, this technology would also qualify as a green chemistry technology. One example is replacing a hazardous sorbent [chemical] used to capture mercury from the air for safe disposal with an effective, but nonhazardous sorbent. Using the nonhazardous sorbent means that the hazardous sorbent is never manufactured and so the remediation technology meets the definition of green chemistry.

Cambridge International AS and A Level Chemistry builds on the skills acquired at Cambridge IGCSE (or equivalent) level. The syllabus includes the main theoretical concepts which are fundamental to the subject, a section on some current applications of chemistry, and a strong emphasis on advanced practical skills.

The emphasis throughout is on the understanding of concepts and the application of chemistry ideas in novel contexts as well as on the acquisition of knowledge. The course encourages creative thinking and problem-solving skills which are transferable to any future career path. Cambridge International AS and A Level Chemistry is ideal for learners who want to study chemistry or a wide variety of related subjects at university or to follow a career in science.

Organic ChemistryWe define organic chemistry as the chemistry of compounds that contain both carbon and hydrogen.Carbon has four valence electrons. The electronegativity of carbon is too small for carbon to gain electronsfrom most elements to form C4- ions, and too large for carbon to lose electrons to form C4+ ions. Carbontherefore forms covalent bonds with a large number of other elements, including the hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus, and sulfur.

I hope you find the Chemistry AS and A Level Notes useful. If you have extra notes or resources please contribute to the website and help thousands of people. In addition, your name will be written in the credits section of this post.

This is a very nice website, a very established one indeed. I am also providing FREE IGCSE and IAL chemistry notes on this website. Please do visit my website, if you have the time. You may find something which may be very useful to you.

Chemistry is about the tiny building blocks that make up everything in the universe! Briefly put, it is the study of the properties of matter. If you have ever wondered why the sky is blue or what makes a car move, then the answer has to do with chemistry. Chemistry is amazing, because it can explain simple everyday things from skincare to electricity to medicine.

I find the notes very easy to read and to understand. All the necessary coverage on each topic made the note a must to have! I only wish there will be more of others such inorganic, analytical, physical, or biochemistry, even the laboratory guideline will make studying a lot easier.

Not only are Chemistry Notes organized and easy-to-digest, but also the author gives many examples and tricks. Personally, I liked two things in these notes: A) The gradual depth of concepts, which saved me the overwhelming feeling one feels when (disorganized) information of so-called "mandatory textbooks" comes exploding from everywhere; B) The abundance of problems and their detailed solutions! ff782bc1db
