Lightning McQueen is hosting an international championship in Radiator Springs, to celebrate the construction of his new racing stadium and headquarters. While reporting about the event on television, Mater forgets his lines and calls it the "Mater-National Championship." Several international racing superstars arrive in Radiator Springs and befriend McQueen, including Giovanni, an Italian Ferrari; Otto Von Fassenbottom, a German endurance racer; Gudmund, a charismatic Swedish competitor; and Koji, a Japanese drift racer.

3D models are not as good as in other games, team relay races only have two cars and two laps, the opponents will never change in arcade mode, Mater has a gold tooth on his paint jobs with flames, and the sand color in Rustbucket Races may vary.

Lightning McQueen first met Phillip when he was driving on the wrong side of the road towards him. Lightning swerved out of the way. He went back to tell Phillip that he was on the wrong side of the road. Phillip apologizes and says that he's from England, and still not used to American roads. Then he realizes that the car he was talking to was Lightning McQueen. Lightning decides to help Phillip to drive on the right side of the road, but Phillip thought he was going to be taught how to race. Fred arrives and hears about the "race," and wants to join. Then, when Doc Hudson arrived, Phillip was excited to see him, because he knew he was the Fabulous Hudson Hornet. Doc explained that Phillip should calm down, or he will break down, and then he will have to fix him. Then Barry arrives, hearing about the "race," and Lightning decides to have a race after all. All 5 cars went to line up at the starting line. The race was called Radiator Springs Circuit.

He also appeared in Inside the Turkey and Canyon Run, and he is your opponent in level 5 of Doc and the Law's Race 'n' Chase. He and Yuri are the only 2 cars in the game that are new to the game, but not playable, however, playable data exists in the coding, and both have been made playable via mods.

Several international racing superstars arrive in Trucker Springs and befriend McQueen, including Ben, an Italian Ferrari; Rob, a German endurance racer; Alex, a charismatic Swedish competitor; and Cheng, a Japanese drift racer.

Bart McQueen is hosting an international championship in Litecar Springs, to celebrate the construction of his new racing stadium and headquarters. While reporting about the event on television, Jimmy forgets his lines and calls it the "Jimmy-National Championship." Several international racing superstars arrive in Radiator Springs and befriend McQueen, including Ronald, an Italian Ferrari; Nicholas, a German endurance racer; Sven, a charismatic Swedish competitor; and Dragon, a Japanese drift racer.

Having tow truck Mater (voiced by Larry the Cable Guy) host a series of race events for new international racers (including a Japanese tuner car voiced by Heroes star Masi Oka) makes sense, but it's not an especially interesting premise, nor is it a long-lasting one - players can blast through all the necessary races (including the new Stadium Events, which replace the Piston Cup races) in five hours flat. Numerous minigames are included to extend the playtime, but the most notable ones (such as Tractor Tipping and Ghosting Mater) simply return from the previous game. Ramone's Rhythmic Rumble is a passable new addition, and while Fillmore's Fuel Frenzy fares slightly better, the monster truck races are uniformly terrible, sporting sloppy controls and asinine gate layouts.

November 30, 2007 (Europe)Cars: Mater-National Championship is the sequel to Cars: The Video Game. It was released 2 years before Cars: Race-O-Rama. The game takes place in Radiator Springs as players take the roles of Lightning McQueen and Mater, as they prepare themselves for the 1st annual Mater-National Championship against many race cars around the world.

Later in the story, Lightning and Giovanni host the first official race in the new racing stadium. Giovanni decides, since this was Lightning's home track, to let him win. After the race, Luigi begs for them to have another one, to which Lightning agrees. He also decides to have this be another relay race with Lightning and two Radiator Springs residents on one team and Giovanni with two of the other international racers on the other.

Yuri (voiced by Mark Ivanir)[4] is a Russian Rally car, among others joined the Mater-National Championship. He is first seen in the Road Race Inside The Turkey and in seen again in the Road Race Canyon Run. His license plate is YURIKAA. He doesn't appear in any cutscenes and he has no backstory or introduction, so very little is known about him. He also is one of the only cars seen throughout the entire series who is Russian.

He immediately apologizes, but he gets excited when he realizes he is speaking to Lightning McQueen and thinks he was saved from "near death." Lightning decides to teach him to drive on the correct side of the road in the U.S., but Philip think he is getting a private racing lesson. Fred overhears and decides to join in. Doc shows up and scolds the cars for blocking the road, to which Lightning apologizes, but Philip and Fred are excited, since Doc was the Fabulous Hudson Hornet. Barry joins the conversation too, thinking a race was going on. Lightning agrees to have a race after all.

Arcade: Arcade mode has two options as well. Race and Minigame. The 1st option will enable you to choose one of the available cars and race in any of the tracks that you have unlocked in Story Mode. In the 2nd option you can play mini-games such as hitting the buttons that appear on the screen at the right time, trying to finish a race before running out of fuels, playing tag with another car, etc.

Cars Mater-National will offer fans of the film a fresh adventure set in the super-fueled world of Radiator Springs. The video game will feature all-new international characters vying for their chance to compete against Lightning McQueen in the First Annual Mater-National Race Festival. Players will explore the new and improved open world of Radiator Springs, complete with new tracks, mini-games and more than 10 multiplayer games.
