Five original adobe buildings are part of the historic park, which include museums, unique retail shops, and several restaurants. The Historic Plaza remains a special place for gatherings and historic activities. Visitors can also experience a working blacksmith shop, enjoy music, see or touch the park's burros, and engage in activities that represent early San Diego.

Each parking applicant is assigned a Parking Service Date (PSD), which is used only for parking purposes. For most, your original hire date to state service will be your parking service date. Only state service is reflected in your parking service date. (Service with HRI, EFC, ESDC, HTFC, HRVG, or NHT counts as eligible service.) All other government service is disqualified. However, all state service including time served in hourly, provisional status, or on leave is reflected in your service date. The only service that does not count are separations from state service of one year or longer.

OGS uses this date to determine permit priority. All time served with the state, including leaves, as well as hourly and provisional status, is included in your parking service date. Please be aware, however, that your parking service date will be adjusted to exclude separations from state service of more than one year.

If you feel the date listed in your Employee Parking Profile does not properly reflect your time in state service, you may request a review of your parking service date, used only for parking purposes.

The parking meter was the brainchild of a man named Carl C. Magee, who moved to Oklahoma City from New Mexico in 1927. Magee had a colorful past: As a reporter for an Albuquerque newspaper, he had played a pivotal role in uncovering the so-called Teapot Dome Scandal (named for the Teapot Dome oil field in Wyoming), in which Albert B. Fall, then-secretary of the interior, was convicted of renting government lands to oil companies in return for personal loans and gifts. He also wrote a series of articles exposing corruption in the New Mexico court system, and was tried and acquitted of manslaughter after he shot at one of the judges targeted in the series during an altercation at a Las Vegas hotel.

Effective February 1, 2021, the Cambridge Traffic, Parking, and Transportation Department will increase the daily parking rates at the First Street and Green Street garages. Night, weekend, and monthly parking rates are not increasing at this time. The daily rate increases are being made to bring rates at the two garages in alignment with other garages in the area. Considerations have been made to ensure rates remain modest to accommodate the needs of people who use the garages. Most people who park during the day will see a $2.00 to $4.00 increase in the total fee.

The Parking Kitty code or zone number is required to start your parking session and identifies where you are parked. You can find this number on the parking sign above the meter (the code is in pink). You can also look up the number on this interactive map, and also from the app in the "Find Parking" section of the menu.

Yes, you can move spaces as long as your new space is in the same meter district that you began your parking session in. Questions regarding parking rules for a specific location should be directed to the local parking operator.
