Depending on the printer you are using, an administrator password is already specified for the printer at the time of purchase. When you change the network settings, authentication by the administrator password is required.

I was a sucker and bought commercial Canon Neural Network Image Processing tool for one year. I needed to process some high ISO images and after short testing last year I found that this paid tool provided pretty good results.

Now when I have a RAW file I would like run through this commercial Canon tool I need to first do some basic development in DPP to it and then export TIF, which I need to import darktable for further processing.

Thank you very much for you time to look this. This was the answer I feared. Canon is probably protecting their IPR for this, so I feel it is too much to ask for anyone to try reverse engineering what this commercial tool is doing. I will generate TIFF with DPP from these CRN files and edit those in darktable also in the future.

By default Canon applied these DPP standard picture profile with unsharp mask sharpness setting (4,2,3). Because of sharpening there might be some halos. All these are with default settings from this NN tool. There is possibility to fine tune neural network noise reduction and neural network lens optimizer (-2 -1 0 +1 +2). Did not do any proper comparisons between these settings. To my liking noise reduction is maybe little too heavy on default, so I might need to tune it down one step for my own images.

With this product, you can install, view or configure the network settings of the printer that is connected through a network. When using Canon IJ Network Tool, you may be prompted to enable or disable communications, depending on the firewall you use. If so, choose to enable communications.

Print and scan wirelessly from any Wi-Fi enabled computer from your local network connection. Wireless printing requires a working network with wireless 802.11b/g/n capability. You will need a Wi-Fi enabled Computer, a wireless router and a wireless printer. All three devices must be connected to the same wireless network connection. I've connected it to the network, and verified with my router that it has an IP address, and responds to pinging while connected and on, and not when unconnected and/or off, so I know I got the right IP address.

Unfortunately, it's a printer I've had a while and I can't find the manual nor the cd that came with it, so any instructions on how to get it set up so that I can print to it over the network I don't have.

Edit: Ok, I found that by pointing my web browser to the IP address of the printer, I got up a web page where I can enable and disable various interfaces, including a wireless network (WIFI) interface, who knew. Unfortunately, it doesn't tell me anything related to how I would configure Windows to actually talk to it.

If I pick the Generic network card (default type in the combo), then it asks me to pick the make and model of printer. After doing that, and getting it to display in the printer list, going to the property pages and asking for printer status just tells me the printer is not responding.

For OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard things are a bit different. An early installation (while new drivers were not yet available) simply removed the existing iP4000R printer. When connecting it through USB it showed and installed without any question, but no luck for the network settings. On September 1st 2009 Canon released new CUPS drivers. On September 3rd Mac OS X Software Update did not know about this (yet?), and neither did the European website. However, Canon's USA and New Zealand sites list 10.6 drivers for the iP4000R. Other printers may have been updated as well. (But: meanwhile Apple Software Update might know all drivers too.)

The type reads "canonijnetwork" and it gets a funny URL like canonijnetwork://Canon/iP4000R?00.00.85.xx.xx.xx (the last part being the MAC-address), even though my DHCP settings do not give the printer the name "Canon". My firewall now allows incoming connections for "Canon IJ Printer Utility" and "canonijnetwork.bundle". The Supply Levels are also shown on demand.

Canon recently released a new version of their IJ Network Tool (v. 4.4.1). Using this I was able to setup the network interfaces of my old ip4000r on OS X 10.9.5 without much problem. Link to EU support site.

The tool can be used for RAW images (except those captured in RAW burst mode, or RAW movies) from compatible cameras. Note that [Neural network Lens Optimizer] can be applied to images from the following cameras.

Click [Open settings] to set the effect level for [Neural network Noise Reduction] and [Neural network Lens Optimizer] (left: low, right: high). Consider checking the image processing results under default settings before changing the settings.

I've been searching for and trying different solutions for over 5 hours now. I'm hoping someone can help me. This canon device should work similarly to the newer printer/scanners in this line. This device worked fine for me when connected directly to my iMac via USB. I recently upgraded to OS X 10.8 and connected the printer to an Airport Extreme so both PCs on our wireless network could access it. This worked fine, could print from both the Macbook Air and the iMac with no problems. Then I tried to scan something and went down the rabbit hole. Found that the printer was not properly connected to the wireless network, and I have been unable to re-run the wireless setup using the Canon IJ Network Tool. After numerous efforts of installing the original startup disk, restarting, restarting the printer, installing all new drivers and software from the Canon site, I'm now in a worse situation than when I started. Now the iMac doesn't see the printer at all. ff782bc1db
