Wait what happened if BlueStacks is not available for Ubuntu? There are other Android emulators too which can help you to run Android games and apps on your Linux Distro. Recently I was finding which are the best Android emulators for Linux/Ubuntu (best bluestacks alternatives for Ubuntu/Linux). And guess what? I come across Genymotion.

I switched to Linux mint so now im looking for a bunch of alternative apps. most i found but there are still a few im missing. I download the program wine, which lets you download or play most windows applications. I like bluestacks because of android games and programs but bluestacks isint available for linux. whenever i try to download bluestacks a pop up appears saying something like "your device is not supported with bluestacks". So i guess i need an alternative, is there even one. my pc is on the mid side if that helps and i would prefer to install something to my exsternal hard drive.

I am on linux which will be best option for linux. Bluestack i have some experience on windows. What about Anbox for me emulator is for some app what not working on linux - not for gaming. Some simple emulator what can recognize microphone and audio output.

I very much disagree with everything you said there. I will say, RAM is not the major issue with anything with a Celeron unless you are running Windows. CPU is a problem whatever operating system you install. I had my fair share of shitty low end laptops in the last 15 years and I would not recommend anyone a Celeron machine whatever it is. I got a N3060 w/4G ram and a 850 Evo sitting right next to me, HW acceleration is broken in linux (only partially works if you use Firefox and h264ify and couple of browser flag tweaks), meaning even watching videos is a total shit show. I agree with @jaslionthat anything Celeron is not worth getting.

This is a windows laptop 4gb of ram for windows IS NOT ENOUGH. Saying go linux is not a solution for most people. Which is loose from the problem here. The problem is a device that is not capable of doing what op wants without struggling or starting to patch things up. Which is not something a BRAND NEW COMPUTER should have to deal with.

Now: from www.bluestacks.com directly, downloading gives a "BlueStacksInstaller_5.10.0.1085_native_....exe". Installing it, it results in a v 5.10.0.1085 N32. Newer, as it looks. There indeed one can install SF v7. BUT ...

Here installed Bluestacks says 5.3.70.1004 P64(beta). Clicking "update" says I've the latest version. I'm still not able to install SF v7 down from google play, still says "not compatible" bla.

Is working here, can confirm it. But only over that shortcut "bluestacks instances manager" or similar, that is set during the install.

I am at a place where there is a proxy server along with username/password authentication.

Apps like MEmu/bluestacks/Genymotion cannot run on proxy, so I googled and found some ways to work around this problem - ( before i start i gotta tell that i use both Windows10 and Linux Mint so any workaround for my problem for both platforms would be much appreciated)

I have set up my apt.conf file in linux (alongwith the proxy and authentication) but it too gives only the terminal and software manager access to the internet but fails to do so for Genymotion. I have manually setup proxy in Genymotion (again thanks to - Genymotion proxy with user/password).
