I recently had my first sales which has prompted me to start listing more items, I am currently trying to add a new image to one of my listings and it keeps giving the image a black background. I created the image in Photoshop and it has a white background however when I upload the image it turns the background to black. What's up with this and how can I get the white background I want for the image?

You can't adjust that on your listing page, so go back to photo editor to fix it. Perhaps make a copy of the dodgy one and rejig with the correct background and then try to upload it. Is it showing as black when published I wonder? Perhaps the glitch is only seen on listing page?

I have found that when removing backgrounds (making it transparent) it always shows up black on Etsy. Using the Magic Wand Tool, select the back ground. Then use the Paint Bucket Tool and fill with white (or any other color you like). I hope this helps.

Previously, when I would threshold one of my images with the dark background feature checked, the background would be white and the cells I was counting would be black and upon analyzing the particles I would get an accurate cell count. However now when I threshold doing the same thing, the background is black and the cells are white. When I change the thresholding bars to make the background white and cells black it just counts the background as one large cell and gives me a very low count of about 1 or 2.

The image on the left is what is occurring now, where as the image on the right is what the thresholded image looked like before when I was counting. However Now when I threshold to make it look like the image on the right the background is being counted as one cell instead of counting the cells in the image.

I love running adventure paths, but many of the items, portraits, etc. cannot be found online through an image search. However, when I copy and paste these PDF images in paint, they have this horrible black background.

A trick when it's in the alpha channel is simply to CTRL+Click on the alpha channel's small preview to select it and then create a mask on the layer with the black background from the selection. (Then you can delete the alpha channel)

I am running a Thinkpad X1 Yoga gen 4, with the Linux 5.11.7-zen1-1-zen kernel. I wanted to switch my display manager from SDDM to LightDM as I liked the way the slick greeter looks. I set my background image with the lightdm-settings package in the AUR, and it is not working. I also set an icon, and that is also not working. Whenever I boot up, I get a black background and the slick greeter. Everything works normally from there. Here is the contents of /var/log/lightdm/seat0-greeter.log:

For future readers here is how I fixed it:

I created a folder in /etc/ called bgs, and moved the images into that folder. I then used lightdm-settings to set the background and logo to the .png images in the /etc/bgs/ folder. When I restarted the computer, It hung at boot. I then used Ctrl + Alt + F2 to go to tty2, and ran reboot. Upon rebooting again, it worked correctly, and I got my background and logo. Unfortuanatley, the logo was half clipping out of the screen so I edited /etc/lightdm/slick-greeter.conf and removed the line for the logo. I had to restart twice like I explained above to remove the logo. Thanks for your help all!

I have a trouble with displaying my .png images in Chrome - background is black instead of transparent. In Firefox everything is ok. What can i do to fix this bug? I tried to write some CSS rules like "background-color: transparent" but nothing changed.

I have read some old posts about this but can't find the solution or workaround. I use a windows laptop with windows 11 - up to date firmware and drivers. I am a crafter and save all the designs on onedrive, the majority come with a transparent background for building up designs. when i'm looking at the images in the software packages I use eg. affinity designer, design space, gimp, inkscape, infanview, they have black backgrounds but when opened they have a transparent background. I also have the same when viewing files using windows explorer. I've tried all the "fixes" that I've seen online but nothing has worked. As I do with most of my images, I start with pulling down ever so slightly on the highlights and blacks and increasing whites and shadows. I also find I need to warm up my subject a tad, so I will temperature and exposure to create a slightly warmer look. Of course, you will have to experiment with this to see what works best for your style.

As tempting as it may seem in your effort to help darken the background, do not just yank down your black and shadows for the whole image when post-processing these. Doing so can create a sharp unnatural edge to your subjects. Keep in mind how light and shadows naturally and gradually fall. You want that look, not a cut-and-paste appearance.

I have an image with a black background, and want to put text on top of it, so that it cuts around the text, leaving it white. I have tried push to front, but it cuts all of the background first, then cuts the text into it. Is there a way to get the text to be untouched?

However, I remember it was possible to take such images and do something in photoshop so that when you place them over a photo, the black is gone and the fire is perfectly blended there. But I can't remember what feature or option was it. Any ideas?

Beyond that you can also go into the Blending Options and adjust the slider at the bottom where it says, "This Layer" and move the black tab on the left side in a bit but the results aren't necessarily that good for something soft like a flame.
