Hello, my business has a license for Biztalk Standard 2020. My developer team is asking for the developer edition to run on our QA environment, but I cannot find anywhere to download this. Is it available for the standard license?

The BizTalk 2020 Developer edition is not available to MSDN Visual Studio Pro annual subscription, must be enterprise ... seems odd they would not have this restriction for BizTalk 2016 but do have it for BizTalk 2020 and why have a developer edition if it's not available to all developers under MSDN subscriptions?

Do you have a MSDN Subscription? That is the one licencing requirement to be able to download and use it. So no, it isn't "free". But the link would be my.visualstudio.com/Downloads?q=biztalk if you do.

Edition: Do most sites consider it satisfactory to have a Developer edition running in DEV, QA, and STAGE environments, and then only run Enterprise Edition in Production? I'm specifically referring to server products such as BizTalk (2010/2013) and SQL Server (2008/R2 and 2012).

I don't think Microsoft will guarantee ANYTHING will work, ANYWHERE. The can offer guidance and best practices, and in this case the Developer Edition does have a few differences from Enterprise. For customer who wants to take advantage of the full computing power of the physical host server and have very dynamic provisioning and de-provisioning of virtual resources, further savings can be achieved by licensing all the cores in the physical host server. Once all the cores are licensed, then customers will be able to deploy an unlimited number of virtual machines on the server and utilize the full capacity of the licensed hardware.
