One approach to enhance the zero-trust defensive posture required for gaming platforms is to use real-time watermark inspection on all traffic from the internet to the gaming server. Time-based packet watermark checks at the network peering and transit edge give gaming operators the ability to ensure only legitimate gaming clients communicate with the gaming server. The challenge is having the performance to inspect every packet for a valid token without impacting the adrenaline-pumping game with energy-draining delays or abandon-worthy jitter.

Time-sensitive tokens are generated by the game operator; one-way encoded to prevent algorithm discovery and then passed to legitimate clients. The client application will watermark each communication packet with the current token destined to the gaming server. Accesses without the token or with an expired token are blocked before it reaches the server.

Like everything in security, nothing is 100-percent guaranteed, but with packet watermarking, the attack surface is greatly diminished, while placing an additional burden on the bad actors to prevent a breach of the environment or mitigate DDoS attacks.

With text box selected, click *File > Export. In the dialog select PNG as type (try with SVG for better scaling) and tick the box Selection, enter a name and OK. A new dialog will open select a resolution (dpi) first, then a physical size, OK. You now have a png of your watermark; so far just like Excel 2010.

Create personal watermarks using wire, magnetic sheeting, and puff paint. Participants will have the opportunity to design custom watermarks for stationery, end papers and artwork. Basic pulp preparation, sheet forming, pressing and drying will be reviewed. This is a great class for any level.

Something like that would be great. I have a site where the photo files are the product. My solution was a little time consuming, but effective. I made a copy of the image to be downloaded, added the watermark in Photoshop, used that as the Featured Image for each Product page.

You'd be better off writing something that, if a checkbox is ticked when a photo is saved or updated, adds a bit of CSS that positions another image, the watermark, on top of the image. Quite simple to do once you get the data saved with the photo update. But that's not overly complicated or difficult to find out.

What's the purpose of the watermark? Just to give temporary attribution, or to discourage people from saving the images and reposting them elsewhere without attribution? Matthew's suggestion works fine if you just want to overlay some custom text on an image, but for the latter I would think the only means would be to have two copies of each image--one with a watermark and one without. That would get unwieldy pretty quickly if there are a lot of images, though.

I would think you're likely not going to find anything like that either. You'd probably have to write a custom plugin. And even that way it's still not going to be exactly what you are asking for. To "remove" the watermark, you'd have to fake it. Your custom plugin would have to store the originals on the server and when someone requests an image with no watermark you'd have to retrieve the original rather than the edited one. On the most basic level, what you are asking to do is impractical if not impossible. You can't just remove pixels from a raster image. There are ways to fake it but they won't look good. I would either go with the permanent watermark or find a way to hack together a plugin for wordpress that can store both the original and the edited photo.

Make or place your current watermark. I created a new transparent layer, used a free April Ornaments brush (from Pixels & Ice Cream) and customized it a little to fit my taste. Then I added my initials.

If your watermark is toward the edge of the photo, it is even easier to remove it. A thief can simply crop the watermark or logo out of the image. This is why a simple watermark cannot protect you. The only exception to this is a full-image watermark; the kind that stock photography companies use to protect images. These are impossible to remove completely.

Having consistently high-quality work is what makes you appear professional. If you do have a watermark, consider hiring a designer to help you create it and to keep it small and unobtrusive.

The temptation is to make it smaller, but the majority of watermarks look ugly at a tiny size. The only thing that should be added to the image is your signature on the white border around the image when you print it out and sign it personally as a limited edition print. This is the classiest way to add to a perfect image, and in many cases can actually add value.

The point of the signature is to ensure the authenticity of the painting or print. A signature is never very prominent on a painting, and prints are signed around the edge in the margin. This is to not detract from the piece itself. Placing a watermark on the photo draws attention away from the photo itself, and keeps the viewer from enjoying it as it was meant to be experienced.

This is a great point brought up by one of our Mastin Labs Facebook community members, Chris Brashear. As your brand evolves, so will your logo. Imagine the stress of having to dig up all your old photos and re-watermarking them to match your current logo. It is nearly impossible!

SkyCAD does not have a watermark built-in feature, but we certainly can come up with something by adding a text to your title block and playing with queries to define the 'Displayed' property value based on a project property.

Great work! This is pretty much what we had in mind, except we noticed (as you probably did yourself...) that the text hides the connections... So we are still thinking about a way to make either the watermark text semi-transparent, or manage to have the watermark text drawn 'under' the sheet content.

That said, we managed to change the sheet drawing process so that the title block is drawn first. This will result in your watermark text to look as if it's under everything else, including connections.

One thing we suggest you do: make sure your watermark text has it's 'Sub-selectable' property checked off. This will prevent you from being able to select the text, just as a true watermark should behave. If you need to reactivate the property, you will stil have access to the text through the tree view.

@hanrahan6: Sorry for not getting back to you earlier. it seems we missed your post. In any case, thanks for letting people know there is a way to get a watermark straight from thr printer. We did not know that ourselves!

A followup question... Is there a way to dynamically change the watermark text size without editing the title block? DRAFT looks great with size 500 but if I want to use PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL or INTERNAL USE ONLY I need a smaller text size. Can an attribute be added to the project properties that lets us change this? Or even better, a function that can automate this based on number of characters (if SkyCAD can even do functions/automations like that)?

That's no problem, just thought I'd check. I've created a second watermark for those items. Realistically they will have to be used alongside a draft watermark anyway, so makes sense to have two. Thanks again for all your help!

First, I tried just lightly sanding the watermark before applying some oil to reseal the surface. It kind of worked and definitely looked much better than before but there were a few problems with this method.

I'm under the impression that I see more and more watermarked images, for instance on various Fuji-related Facebook groups I follow. They used to be some simple transparent text, in a corner or right in the middle, but I now see more and more elaborated watermarks like the one below:

- I often see watermarks on pictures that, honestly, have nothing really special... or that are not beautiful (highly subjective judgment). In that case, could the watermark affect negatively the photographer? In otherwords, posting crap and labeling it with a watermark to make it more professional and less snapshoty.

I'm a casual amateur photographer, so I don't even think about it. If I were more serious, or if my income depended on it, I don't think I'd watermark either. (milandro, I understand the distinction you're making, but, sadly, as with so many language errors, the ship has sailed on this one.) First, watermarks damage the image, by definition (except in vanishingly rare cases where the watermark itself is part of some ironic artistic statement). And they also damage the relationship between the artist and the viewer, in my opinion. Serious or professional photographers should by all means copyright and register their images and employ steganographic techniques for protection.

When viewing photos online, I tend to give images by those I believe are not taking themselves seriously much easier "likes". If an image is watermarked and I have any doubts at all about it -- no likey.

the only reason for signing or watermarking a photo is avoid others to get money out of it. Usually you do it if photography is your job or in case you have such an exceptional photo, or what you think is a exceptional photo, and you're worried somebody might get cash out of it. e24fc04721
