Most new infectious diseases emerge when pathogens transfer from animals to humans.1,2 The suspected origin of the COVID pandemic in a wildlife wet market has resurfaced debates on the role of wildlife trade as a potential source of emerging zoonotic diseases.3-5 Yet there are no studies quantitatively assessing zoonotic disease risk associated with wildlife trade. Combining data on mammal species hosting zoonotic viruses and mammals known to be in current and future wildlife trade,6 we found that one-quarter (26.5%) of the mammals in wildlife trade harbor 75% of known zoonotic viruses, a level much higher than domesticated and non-traded mammals. The traded mammals also harbor distinct compositions of zoonotic viruses and different host reservoirs from non-traded and domesticated mammals. Furthermore, we highlight that primates, ungulates, carnivores, and bats represent significant zoonotic disease risks as they host 132 (58%) of 226 known zoonotic viruses in present wildlife trade, whereas species of bats, rodents, and marsupials represent significant zoonotic disease risks in future wildlife trade. Thus, the risk of carrying zoonotic diseases is not equal for all mammal species in wildlife trade. Overall, our findings strengthen the evidence that wildlife trade and zoonotic disease risks are strongly associated, and that mitigation measures should prioritize species with the highest risk of carrying zoonotic viruses. Curbing the sales of wildlife products and developing principles that support the sustainable and healthy trade of wildlife could be cost-effective investments given the potential risk and consequences of zoonotic outbreaks.

A trade license is essential for every trading business since it grants the right to practice a business in a particular area. Thus, business owners can only operate in a specific area after obtaining a trade license from the city/town/village municipal corporation.

In Bangalore, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is the municipal corporation that issues trade licenses. It issues a BBMP trade license permitting businesses to do a particular business in Bangalore. Every business should also apply for the BBMP trade license renewal after its expiry period to carry on the business activity for which it was issued.

The BBMP issues the trade license for one to five years. The BBMP trade licence period is from 1st April to 31st March of the following year. Thus, business owners must apply for BBMP trade license renewal between 1st February and 28th February. BBMP will impose a penalty if the trade license renewal is applied after 1st March. The steps to renew the BBMP trade license are as follows:

Businesses covered under Schedule X of the KMC Act should apply for a BBMP trade license before 30 days of starting the business in Bangalore. If the business owners do not have a BBMP trade license, they may have to shut down their businesses in Bangalore. Thus, obtaining a trade license from the municipal authority, BBMP, is essential for business in Bangalore.

In some circumstances trade negotiations with a trade partner have been concluded, but have not been either signed or ratified yet. This means that although the negotiations have finished, no part of the agreement is in place yet.

Among the few revenue sources for the BBMP is trade licences that are issued for over 70 different kinds of businesses in the city. However, the number of such licences has not crossed 55,000 in the recent past, which civic officials admitted, was a fraction of the number of commercial power connections in the city.

The BBMP is also trying to regulate trades in residential areas. Civic Commissioner B.H. Anil Kumar had said they had sought an amendment in zoning regulations to allow some essential trades in residential zones, such as neighbourhood provision stores, pharmacies, etc.

However, it will not issue trade licence for businesses and establishments on roads less than 40 ft wide that have been opened after 2015. Similarly, the licence will not be issued if the trade occupies more than 20% of the built-up area in a building on a road that is over 40-ft wide.

As the Embassy in New Delhi is also accredited to Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and The Maldives, the Trade Council in India also covers these local markets. The Trade Council in India has excellent communication with government organisations including ministries, local authorities, trade associations, corporates, etc. in these markets.

Ensure trade compliance and efficient trade at the regional, cluster or country level, in coordination with the Head of Global Trade Compliance, create country specific trade policies and procedures, where local laws or regulations require having a country specific or dedicated trade policy.

Consult the Head of Global Trade Compliance in case of questions on trade compliance and escalate trade compliance issues to the Head of Global Trade Compliance as necessary; Country Trade Compliance Officers usually report to the Regional Head of Trade Management and are part of the GTM organization. In case of part time Country Trade Compliance Officers or Representatives, these roles are best combined with Finance/Controlling, Legal or in certain cases with SCM. Segregation of Duties needs to be secured.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke stressed the importance of innovation in the U.S.-India trade relationship today in Bangalore with remarks and a discussion with students and faculty at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) before officially opening the U.S. Pavilion at Aero India 2011. Bangalore is the second stop of his three-city high-technology business development trade mission with U.S companies to India.

The secretary added that unlocking the full potential of IISc students and researchers, and indeed the entire U.S.-India trade relationship, depended on India continuing to work towards "a regulatory infrastructure that encourages the freer flow of ideas, people, and technologies across its borders."

"The U.S. is committed to greater bilateral commercial collaboration and developing a strategic partnership with India that strengthens our global nonproliferation efforts, and creates trade opportunities in the defense and high-technology sectors," Secretary Locke said.

I am interested as well.

It seems like, it is quite difficult to find genuine people who are willing to form/join a small group. Unless it is a group of friends sitting together to trade, trading is a lonely job. Getting together once in a while and discussing ideas in real can help out each and every one.
