I am trying to connect Beam to a Sony Bravia Tv using an audio converter. I have coaxial out of tv into converter. and optical into converter from beam using Sonos supplied adapter. I am trying unsuccessfully to connect to to beam. message on sonos app says no signal detected make sure to digital optical adapter and HDMI cable are securely plugged into....

i did exactly what you mentioned. used a coaxial cable from the TV out and plugged it into the adapter/converter. Then an optical cable from the adapter/converter to the Sonos adapter cable and that cable to the beam HDMI. But couldn't connect and no sound from the beam.

Has anyone successfully obtained an audio converter for any sonos sound bars, to convert either the RCA or Coax out, into a converter then Optical out using the SONOS supplied optical to HDMI adaptor into the beam?
Trying to get an idea, whether using this would work? Or using a HDMI switch with an optical output. This would then mean audio out only for HDMI devices. I am in Australia where we get free to air TV so i would not get Audio out of the Beam for this as this is connected via Coax from Aerial. Thats fine as i really only want audio for movies which will be comes from an external device.
Well, I guess I'll leave this post up in case anyone else is having the same problem, but it turns out I'm just dumb and didn't try changing the one setting that was causing the issue :D
For whatever reason, filtering it through the sample rate converter, even if it was set to the same sample rate as the original file, massively increased the bitrate. I took out the filter and all of a sudden I have 900kbps, 48khz ALAC files. Fascinating.
