By definition, historical data includes most data generated either manually or automatically within an enterprise. Sources, among a great number of possibilities, include press releases, log files, financial reports, project and product documentation and email and other communications.

In a business context, historical data is used to make important strategic decisions about the present and future. Managers use historical data to track organizational performance over time, identify areas of improvement and make predictions about future trends.

Historical data can be stored in a variety of ways, including databases, spreadsheets and text files. It is important to choose a storage method that is efficient and scalable so historical data can be easily accessed and analyzed.

Some organizations are required by law or regulation to retain historical data for a certain period of time. For example, businesses in the financial services industry are subject to Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) rules, which require the retention of business records for varying lengths of time depending on the type of record.

Other organizations may have internal policies for how long historical data should be retained. For example, a company may keep financial records for seven years or customer service records for five years.

It is important to consult with legal and compliance teams to determine how long historical data needs to be retained. Once a decision has been made, it is important to have a plan in place for how historical data will be stored and managed over time

Because data storage requires resources to maintain, data lifecycle management (DLM) is recommended to ensure that data is not maintained without good reason or for longer than necessary and that it is properly archived or disposed of as appropriate.

The National Health Expenditure Accounts (NHEA) are the official estimates of total health care spending in the United States. Dating back to 1960, the NHEA measures annual U.S. expenditures for health care goods and services, public health activities, government administration, the net cost of health insurance, and investment related to health care. The data are presented by type of service, sources of funding, and type of sponsor.

Studying history allows us to understand how and why the world arrived at its current state, and can give insights into where we may be going and how we can plan for the future. Historical data is constantly emerging and traditional perceptions of past events are revised or challenged on a regular basis. Individual events and figures have dominated historical study for millennia, however increasing importance is now placed on analyzing long-term trends to predict the future. Why not make historical data available for more data points? For instance, back in August when the 2020 data update was made available, why not archive the 2019 data so it can be used in the future to 'look back'. I am working on a project now where it would be helpful to see regional unemployment rates over the last 5-10 years. To me it seems entirely possible/reasonable to be able to access that information, but is not with the current historical data that is available.

As far as the Business Analyst Web App and all previous incarnations when a new yearly data update is released the previous year vintage is no longer available. That said there was a time period in the Business Analyst Desktop could access older online data vintages back when it was using it's own api but since integrating with arcgis online this functionality was lost.

Thank you for your suggestion to make historical data available for more data points. As you are probably aware, 2021 marked the third annual release of Esri's Time Series estimates for total population, households, and housing units. Esri's Time Series database contains data for every year between the previous decennial census and Esri's current estimates at all levels of geography down to the block group level. Adding more time series data is under consideration and your request is appreciated to help us determine the data most important to your needs. The par real curve, which relates the par real yield on a Treasury Inflation Protected Security (TIPS) to its time to maturity, is based on the closing market bid prices on the most recently auctioned TIPS in the over-the-counter market. The par real yields are derived from input market prices, which are indicative quotations obtained by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York at approximately 3:30 PM each business day. Treasury began publishing this series on January 2, 2004. At that time Treasury released 1 year of historical data.

Treasury ceased publication of the 30-year constant maturity series on February 18, 2002 and resumed that series on February 9, 2006. To estimate a 30-year rate during that time frame, this series includes the Treasury 20-year Constant Maturity rate and an "adjustment factor," which may be added to the 20-year rate to estimate a 30-year rate during the period of time in which Treasury did not issue the 30-year bonds. Beginning on January 2, 2004, Treasury began publishing a Long-Term Real Rate Average. This series is intended for use as a proxy for long-term real rates. Treasury provides historical data back to 2000.

The amount of historical data that's available in Databox is dependent on your Databox plan and the availability of data from the Data Source's API. This article outlines historical data availability based on the availability of data.

When you first connect a Data Source in Databox, we start collecting data from that Data Source's API. The amount of historical data that's available to sync with Databox differs for each Data Source, depending on factors like how much historical data is accessible through the Data Source's public API and any API limits that the Data Source may set to restrict how much data can be synced.

Please note that certain Metrics may have less historical data available. For more information about the amount of historical data available for a specific Metric, please contact our Support Team at help@databox.com.

Once the Metric is being used in your Account the maximum amount of historical data available from via the Data Source's API will be synced with Databox. Learn more about the limits for each Data Source here.

We'll continuously sync data for your active Metrics and will store this data in our own database. This allows us to accumulate more data over time so that you can report on more data to the Metric in your Databox reports in the future.

Once your Data Sources are connected and its metrics used in your Databox account, the data is actively syncing and being stored in our own database. This allows us to accumulate more data over time as more data syncs are made so that you can report on more historical data in your Databox reports.

For example, let's say you connected your Stripe Account to Databox on June 1st. When you first use a Stripe Metric in your Databox account, we can collect 12 months worth of historical data. This means that initially, we can access data from June last year till June 1st this year in Databox. Date Ranges like Year to Date, This Quarter, Last Month, Last Week, etc. will populate with data on your Databoards. Date Ranges like Last Year, Custom Date Range Last 24 Months, etc. will populate with partial data or with no data on your Databoards.

Google Analytics 4 is our next-generation measurement solution, and it has replaced Universal Analytics. Starting on July 1, 2023, standard Universal Analytics properties stopped processing new data, and all customers will lose access to the Universal Analytics interface and API starting on July 1, 2024. To maintain your website measurement, you'll need a Google Analytics 4 property. If you haven't already, make the switch to Google Analytics 4.

Starting the week of July 1, 2024: You won't be able to access any Universal Analytics properties or the API (not even with read-only access), and all data will be deleted. While the standard sunset took weeks to complete, the full Universal Analytics shutdown will happen within a week.
