The Multiple Voice Assistant platform provides support for additional voice assistants in Windows. This allows other assistants be available on Windows devices such as PCs and wearables like HoloLens. Multiple voice assistants can be active on the same device using a set of supported keyword patterns.

Voice activation allows users to quickly engage the voice assistant experience outside of their active context (i.e., what is currently on screen) by using their voice. Users often want to be able to instantly access an experience without having to physically interact with or touch a device. For an Xbox user this may be from not wanting to find and connect a controller. For PC users, they might want rapid access to an experience without having to perform multiple mouse, touch and/or keyboard actions, as in the case of a computer in the kitchen.

Microsoft provides an OS default keyword spotter (software keyword spotter) to provide voice assistant experience in cases where hardware keyword detection is unavailable. While this is currently available for Cortana, additional Microsoft configuration may be needed to onboard other voice assistants to do two-stage keyword detection. The default assistant in the English version was named Clippit, after a paperclip. On April 1, 2014, Clippit appeared as an Office Assistant in Office Online as part of an April Fools' Day joke.[34] Several days later, an easter egg was found in the then-preview version of Windows Phone 8.1. When asked if she likes Clippit, the personal assistant Cortana would answer "Definitely. He taught me how important it is to listen." or "What's not to like? That guy took a heck of a beating and he's still smiling."[35] Her avatar occasionally turned into a two-dimensional Metro-style Clippit for several seconds. When I use windows 10 client to contect with a wifi,I'm doing the same thing as in the old version. But Network Setup Assistant crashed during install and installation failed. I attached failure message screenshot.

So the plan was to install google assistant sdk and get textinput working. Downloaded and installed everything and did the google cloud platform thing and everything is working great. I can type "turn off the bedroom light" in cmd and the bedroom light turns off. Now, this works great, don't get me wrong, and I can most likely adapt this to work for what I need. But this requires to boot up an interactive console and then physically type the phrase I want to ask.

Cortana requires a bit of initial setup, which I'll go over in more detail below. But, once you've got everything fine-tuned to your liking, Windows 10's new virtual assistant should make using your computer a more personal and intuitive experience than ever before.
