I try the "panic stop/ start button" in Bome, closing and starting the 3 applications (i don't even know if i need Midi control center to be opened..), and clicking my Capture one user template in Midi control center and syncing it.
Play and Stop buttons - On the Beatstep, Start/Stop default to MMC button modes. GR does not support this mode. I believe you can program these in the Arturia software to anything you want (set a custom CC value or note value), and then MIDI learn them in GR to the play and stop buttons. I didn't do it this way, though. Instead, I run GR in AUM, and since AUM supports the Beatstep play/stop buttons natively, I just route the Beatstep to AUM's controls and AUM starts/stops GR. But you must press (enable the) EXT Sync button on the Beatstep. Otherwise, it also starts/stops the Beatstep's sequencer. I use AUM because it also allows me to route my keyboard into GR as well as the Beatstep. GR doesn't support two midi controllers on its own, but AUM solves that. Just make sure Virtual MIDI IN is enabled in GR.

I read in one part of the documentation that it only listens to start/stop messages, but in other parts it says it sends note MIDI info if you set it up in the (Windows and Mac only) MIDI control center software. That implies it listens to note messages. More burrowing in sparse documentation on MIDI suggested that's true. Playing a pattern that sweeps all the notes in Renoise while changing the channel found joy on the tenth try. Your mileage may vary.
I am no lua coder, My background is C# C++ for AR and VR. When i was building this I had to ask arturia for some of the sysex documentation that was confidential. I am unsure of the process of building a standalone plugin so someone else might have to help out there, or documentation. however I Picked MCU as the default as it was the first general DAW compatibility and it is just a standard guideline for connecting midi to a DAW. 2351a5e196
