My band is about to release a record of all original songs. We want to register the copyrights in our songs, but we're not sure which forms to fill out. Also, can we register all of our songs on one application?

First let me commend you on wanting to register your copyrights! This is something all artists should do. There are two main music copyrights that one can register, each with its own form. There's the Performing Arts copyright (using Form PA) for a song (i.e., words and melody), and there's also the Sound Recording copyright (Form SR) for a master recording embodying the recorded performance of a song. The Performing Arts copyright is held by the author(s) of the song. The Sound Recording copyright can be held either by the artist (typical for indie bands) or by the label (typical for signed bands).

Note: If you are using the electronic Copyright Office (eCO) rather than paper forms, then, under "Type of Work," you would select "Work of the Performing Arts" to register the songs or "Sound Recording" to register the master recordings of the songs.

The simplest case is that you wrote all of the songs on the album yourself and own 100% of the recordings. This most frequently happens with singer-songwriters. In this case, you can fill out a single Form SR that will cover both the songs and the sound recordings.

Spottedleaf is the villainous protagonist of the Warrior Cats AU multi animator project Sally's Song, hosted by PetitPoisson. She was once a medicine cat of ThunderClan, who formed a close bond with her Clanmate Firepaw. After she was killed and went to StarClan though, she became envious of Sandstorm, who became Firestar's mate. She began to haunt the two's bloodline, and convinced Mapleshade to help her. Eventually, she kills Firestar and Sandstorm, and goes to the Dark Forest for her crimes.

Years later, Firestar and Sandstorm have two daughters, named Squirrelflight and Leafpool. Wanting revenge on Firestar and Sandstorm, she befriends Leafpool and encourages her to run away and become mates with the WindClan warrior Crowfeather. Though the two later break up when Leafpool realizes her duties as a medicine cat are more important, she later realizes she's pregnant with their kits. Once Hollykit, Jaykit and Lionkit are born, Squirrelflight agrees to keep the secret be raising them as her own.

Later still, when Hollyleaf, Jayfeather and Lionblaze are all adults, Spottedleaf encourages Squirrelflight's ex-mate Ashfur to get revenge on her for breaking up with him. Ashfur starts a forest fire, trapping Squirrelflight and her three adoptive kits inside, planning on making her watch them burn to death. Squirrelflight is able to get him to back down by revealing that the three are adopted though, and he swears to reveal this secret at the next Gathering. Spottedleaf then encourages Hollyleaf to kill him so that he won't spill the truth. Ashfur confronts Spottedleaf in StarClan, angry that she got Hollyleaf to kill him. She's at first apathetic, then raises her tail up to reveal Patchkit, Petalkit and Larchkit behind her. Ashfur looks confused, and the three kittens' mother, Mapleshade, rushes up to and kills him as Spottedleaf watches in satisfaction.

From atop a willow or other tall shrub, sounds of fitz-bew float through the air. Males sit upright, throw back their head, and flick their tail upward with each song. From these and other perches, they sally out to nab insects in midair or hover above leaves to pick off insects. If they feel threatened by an intruding Willow Flycatcher they often flick their tail, spread out their tail feathers, flick their wings, or give chase. Willow Flycatchers are still common in most parts of their range though their populations declined by approximately 25% from 1966 to 2019, according to the American Breeding Bird Survey. Partners in Flight estimates the global breeding population at 8.1 million and rates the species 10 out of 20 on the Continental Concern Score, indicating a species of relatively low conservation concern (this estimate includes the Alder Flycatcher, once considered to be the same species). Although the species is common, the southwestern Willow Flycatcher is a federally listed endangered species. Its population is threatened by Brown-headed Cowbird parasitism, habitat loss and degradation, and overgrazing.

"Tutti Frutti" (1955), one of Richard's signature songs, became an instant hit, crossing over to the pop charts in the United States and the United Kingdom. His family was religious and joined various A.M.E., Baptist, and Pentecostal churches, with some family members becoming ministers. He enjoyed the Pentecostal churches the most, because of their charismatic worship and live music.[10] He later recalled that people in his neighborhood sang gospel songs throughout the day during segregation to keep a positive outlook, because "there was so much poverty, so much prejudice in those days".[11] He had observed that people sang "to feel their connection with God" and to wash their trials and burdens away.[12] Gifted with a loud singing voice, he recalled that he was "always changing the key upwards" and that he was once stopped from singing in church for "screaming and hollering" so loud, earning him the nickname "War Hawk".[13] As a child, he would "beat on the steps of the house, and on tin cans and pots and pans, or whatever" while singing, which annoyed neighbors.[14]

Before entering the tenth grade, Richard left his family home and joined Hudson's Medicine Show in 1949, performing Louis Jordan's "Caldonia".[23] Richard recalled that the song was the first secular R&B song he learned, since his family had strict rules against playing R&B music, which they considered "devil music".[24] Other sources also indicate that Little Richard was influenced by Jordan. In fact, according to one reliable source, the whoop sound on Jordan's record "Caldonia" "sounds eerily like the vocal tone Little Richard would adopt" in addition to the "Jordan-style pencil-thin mustache".[25][26]

Impressed by his singing voice, Wright put him in contact with Zenas Sears, a local DJ. Sears recorded Richard at his station, backed by Wright's band. The recordings led to a contract that year with RCA Victor[when?].[31] Richard recorded a total of eight sides for RCA Victor, including the blues ballad, "Every Hour", which became his first single and a hit in Georgia.[31] The release of "Every Hour" improved his relationship with his father, who began regularly playing the song on his nightclub jukebox.[31] Shortly after the release of "Every Hour", Richard was hired to front Perry Welch and His Orchestra and played at clubs and army bases for $100 a week.[32] Richard left RCA Victor in February 1952 after his records failed to chart; the recordings were marketed with little promotion, although ads for the records showed up in Billboard.

Frustrated, Blackwell and Richard went to relax at the Dew Drop Inn nightclub. According to Blackwell, Richard then launched into a risqu dirty blues he titled "Tutti Frutti." Blackwell said he felt the song had hit potential and hired songwriter Dorothy LaBostrie to replace some of Richard's sexual lyrics with less controversial ones.[43][44] Recorded in three takes in September 1955, "Tutti Frutti" was released as a single that November[45] and became an instant hit, reaching No. 2 on Billboard magazine's Rhythm and Blues Best-Sellers chart and crossing over to the pop charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom. It reached No. 21 on the Billboard Top 100 in America and No. 29 on the British singles chart, eventually selling a million copies.[34][46]

Overall, Richard produced seven singles in the United States alone in 1956, with five of them also charting in the UK, including "Slippin' and Slidin'," "Rip It Up," "Ready Teddy," "The Girl Can't Help It" and "Lucille." Immediately after releasing "Tutti Frutti," "safer" white recording artists such as Pat Boone covered the song, charting in the top twenty, higher than Richard's. His fellow rock and roll peers Elvis Presley and Bill Haley also recorded his songs later that same year. Befriending Alan Freed,[55] the disc jockey eventually put him in his "rock and roll" movies such as Don't Knock the Rock[56] and Mister Rock and Roll. Richard was given a larger singing role in the film, The Girl Can't Help It.[57] That year, he scored more hit success with songs such as "Jenny, Jenny" and "Keep A-Knockin'," the latter becoming his first top ten single on the Billboard Top 100. By the time he left Specialty in 1959, Richard had scored a total of nine top-40 pop singles, as well as seventeen top-40 R&B singles.[58][59] e24fc04721
