@Xueli Tian I was able to install To Do via Sideloading, as per the How to Geek instructions. I wasn't sure what the Store web link was, but just doing a Google search for To Do and copying the link there gave it to me ( -us/p/microsoft-to-do-lists-tasks-reminders/9nblggh5r558).

Once I plugged that link in at -adguard.net/, it gave me a long list of apps to install. I chose the one called "Microsoft.Todos_2.42.41091.0_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe.appxbundle". Double-clicked it and clicked Install. It then installed a few prerequisites and then To Do.

What I'm trying to figure out is if it is possible to disable the Microsoft Store while still allowing apps like the calculator that are managed by it to be updated. I've figured out how to disable the store but it's the updates that are tripping me up. After a bit of research I've seen some options that required Windows 10 Enterprise and/or Azure (found here: -us/windows/configuration/stop-employees-from-using-microsoft-store), but we don't currently use those and would prefer to avoid the additional expense if possible. All PCs on the domain are Windows 10 Pro.

This policy is not designed to prevent them from using apps that are already installed. If you block the store from the computer policy any Store apps, including inbox apps will not be updated and will eventually cause those apps to potentially stop working.

Well, at our environment GPO:s do not function as desired. If Store is allowed at computer policy, it is also allowed for users. That is not desired result. Suitable setting was to set "Only display the private store within the Microsoft Store". Business store/Private store is not configured so, no access nor downloads for users. Computers still get updates from store. I tried applocker policy as well. I denied winstore app at Domain Users". It did not function either.

The Microsoft Store supports Win32 app types including .exe and .msi installers. These apps have external content sourcing hosted by the app publisher. Based on their installer definition in the store, each Win32 app supports either User or System context installation. For related information, see Traditional desktop apps in the Microsoft Store on Windows.

In addition to user context, you can deploy Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps from the Microsoft Store app (new) in system context. If a provisioned .appx app is deployed in system context, the app autoinstalls for each user that logs in. If an individual end user uninstalls the user context app, the app still shows as installed because it's still provisioned. In addition, the app must not already be installed for any users on the device. Our general recommendation is to not mix install contexts when deploying apps.

I don't want to have to go to the Microsoft Store page, start fiddler, start the download, capture the .appx file URL and then manually download it so that I can use Add-AppxPackage.(See how Windows OS Hub did that here)

You can now use winget to install msstore apps on windows 10 and 11.Use winget search --source=msstore to make a search, and use the id of the app to install and upgrade the app.For example, to install Netflix:

store.rg-adguard.net is a GUI for generating direct download links to store apps. Peeking at the source of that page, we can piggyback off them to download the content directly, but using PackageFamilyName, rather than Name (in your example it would be Microsoft.HEVCVideoExtension_8wekyb3d8bbwe).

For Windows 10, although the above did not work, this was very helpful in getting to following solution for me to restore WindowsStore which just blinked and did not open since Windows 10 was installed as upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro.

The answer of @Badiboy helps my problem. I removed a lot of metro apps but kept ms-store with MSMG toolkit before I install windows 10 x86 on a very old laptop. Unfortunately, MS Store does not work after installation.

I fixed it by following @Badiboy guideline.

Our task is to download the installation appx file of the universal application from the Microsoft Store. There are two ways to get a direct HTTP(S) link to download the APPX file: using a special online service and using the Fiddler tool.

There is a more complicated way to get a direct download link for the APPX installer of the Microsoft Store application. When you install any application, the Microsoft Store client on your computer receives a direct HTTP/HTTPS link to download the .appx file. You can grab the URL of this direct link using the Fiddler tool, which is used to inspect and debug HTTP traffic.

Switch to the Fiddler window and monitor the HTTP sessions of the Store application. There are quite a few of them. To find the event of access to the URL with the application file, you can use the session search (Find -> type appx ->Find sessions).

Fiddler will highlight the URL with the appx keyword in the URL in yellow. In our example, we are interested in the following session: Result: 200, Protocol: HTTP, Host: tlu.dl.delivery.mp.microsoft.com. Copy the received URL to the clipboard by selecting Copy -> Just Url from the context menu.

It remains to open the received URL in any browser and save the file with the .appx extension to your local drive. The file can be downloaded using any Download Manager or with PowerShell (How to download a file over HTTP using PowerShell).

Copy the appx (appxbundle) app and dependencies files to another Windows 10 (Windows Server 2016/2019) computer and install offline bypassing the Windows Store with a simple double click on the appx file.

How to do the same thing in mac, to download from app store?

I used WireShark to get the link, and downloaded the file. The file extension is .pkg

But I am not able to install it. Here is the error message.

Windows 10 Store on my office computer is blocked. So I downloaded desired App at my home cComputer as described. Works well, I can install the App on my home computer without difficulties (no dependencies).

However installation at office (Windows 10 corporate version) fails. Error-message says that there are missing dependencies or missing .Net (but .Net is there).

Have you any idea what the problem could be? Is it possible to install the appx on other computers? Is it possible to install the appx on corporate OS?

The actual manual installation instructions are hidden in the Server Install section of the manual ( -us/windows/wsl/install-on-server), but my understanding is that you can just run the .appx file you downloaded and it should work anyway.

Adguard is a third-party web service and an online link generator for Microsoft Store. It makes it easy to download appx and appxbundle files from the Microsoft Store for sideloading them on your Windows computer.

Fiddler Classic is a network tracking and monitoring tool to log HTTP(s) traffic from web browsers and installed apps. You can use this app to track Microsoft Store network when downloading an app to your computer. Then use the URL as a direct download link to download appx, msixbundle, and appxbundle files using any web browser.

In an ideal situation, you can double-click on the app file package to install it on your Windows computer. However, if that does not work, you can sideload the apps using PowerShell and the official App Installer. Here are the three ways to install the appxbundle and msixbundle file packages on Windows 10 and 11.

Thanks to the built-in sideload support on Windows, you can easily install Microsoft Store and non-store apps on your computer. Adguard and Fiddler handle the important aspect of allowing to download app package files for sideload.

When Microsoft unveiled the new Microsoft Store on Windows 11, it let everyone know that the new store would also come to Windows 10. Today, Microsoft started to push the new Microsoft Store to Windows 10 devices of the Insider Release Preview ring.,While that limits the official distribution to Insider devices at the moment, it is an indicator that the Store will become available soon on stable versions of Windows 10.

Chrome doesn't want to download the files simply by clicking the links. This made the site feel a bit sketchy at first. In Chrome's DevTools console, Chrome says that it's not downloading the file, because the Microsoft Store URL uses http://, and the site uses But since the file is coming straight from microsoft.com, it feels safe to me.

Citrix Workspace app for Windows (Store) is client software available for download from the Microsoft store. It enables users to access virtual desktops and hosted applications delivered by Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and Citrix DaaS (formerly Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops service).

@Wade: Alternatively, you can install the appx packages using PowerShell. The command-line syntax is as follows:Add-AppxPackage -Path "C:\Path\filename.Appx"Install each package in that way.Note: This article has now been updated to address the 0x80073D05 error.mikeDecember 8, 2020 at 1:29 pmTried a lot of solutions found all around the net, no one worked!

WOW! it worked for me. Although I had to download the Microsoft UI.Xaml appx and install before the Windows Store because I saw the error message which says missing dependency.
