Kindle Previewer helps an author spot formatting or layout mistakes within an eBook before the book is published live on kdp.amazon.com or any other major eBook retailers.
KPF (Kindle Package Format) is a variant of KFX, the format that enables Enhanced Typesetting. Amazon's Kindle Create and Kindle Textbook Creator software have produced this format for some time. The KFX Output plugin for calibre is capable of converting KPF format into KFX that can be sideloaded to kindle apps and devices, a feature that Amazon does not currently provide.

To test out the ability to create Kindle files, open the Lena sample from Browse Samples on the Help menu (or open your own project), select the Kindle configuration in the Control Panel, and press Compile. If Jutoh told you that Kindlegen could not be found, check that you didn't delete or move the original installation folder,and choose the correct location of the kindlegen.exe file in Preferences/Helpers.
There are also more detailed instructions for Mobipocket Creator here, which tell you to directly move the generated .prc file onto the kindle. I tried that but it is not being recognized as a dictionary.

I stopped by today to review my own instructions because I'm getting ready to upload another book to amazon and couldn't remember all the little nitpicky things I need to do. By the way, these instructions need updating again. I will try to get to that soon -- after the new book is up for sale. ?
Sorry but you are just plain wrong here. Please get your facts right. First, you are only exclusive with amazon if you go for KDP select and that too only ebook, you can sell your print book anywhere you want even in KDP select. 2nd, going for 70% royalty rate does NOT mean you cannot sell with kobo, apple, lulu, etc. You totally can.
