I've used Acid since 2007, back when Sony still owned it - it's been the first and main DAW I've used. I started with Acid Music Studio 6. I used that for about 4 years, then upgraded to Acid Music Studio 8. Last year i upgraded to Acid Music Studio 11. My computer was 10 years at this point and around September of this year, AMS 11 started getting pretty unstable and would crash and crackle on rendered audio. I figured it was time for an upgrade and to jump into this music production thing more seriously.

So i took the plunge and bought everything I'd need. New HP Envy laptop. Intel i9 CPU, 32 GB RAM. Wanted to start making my own stuff and work less with loops, so I got a MIDI controller. 4 channel interface, studio monitors, the works. And i was so excited to finally upgrade to a Pro version of Acid for the first time. That was two weeks ago.

In the last two weeks since i purchased the upgrade from AMS 11 to Acid Pro 10, it's become progressively more and more unstable. When I initially downloaded Acid Pro, i didn't have any issues. Problems started shortly after doing the suggested update. First, i found that if I opened a recent project directly, it would hang up and crash. Ok, fine, I'll just open a new window and then open the project. Not a big deal. Then, i started getting the Fatal error - unmanaged exception message. Again, opening a new window and then opening the project seemed to work around that. Or running the program as an administrator

Yesterday, for no discernable reason, Acid Pro has become suddenly much more unstable. Basic functions like cutting and pasting clips while audio is playing have suddenly become suuuper slow. Like slower than in Acid Music Studio 11 that i ran on my old computer with 4 GB of RAM. The program is also randomly and suddenly crashing without warning. Ctrl + S has become a reflex for me. I really don't know what to do at this point. All I know is that this supposedly professional piece of software that I've been a loyal and paying user of for 13 years has become unusable in less than 3 weeks and I;m beyond frustrated. I don't want any new features at this point - i want stability. There are other annoyances too, like my Reason Rack plugin not working in Acid Pro 10, despite working perfectly in Acid Music Studio 11. Based on the posts I've seen from other users here, I'm clearly not alone.

And the thing is that most Acid users are super loyal and have been using some version of this software for years. I feel for all of you guys in the same boat as me. And don't get me wrong; there's a lot to like about Acid Pro 10. Nothing else makes combining loops so easy. The MIDI Playable Chopper is briliiant and my very favourite new feature - it makes the possibilities endless when it comes to chopping stuff up and reimagining it and relooping into something new. Also, the legacy support is great - all of my Acid projects going back to AMS 6 load up perfectly and all of my 32-bit plugins loaded seamlessly. If this software was stable, it;d be perfect for me.

As part of my attempt to be less reliant on the Acid suite, I also purchased Mixcraft 9 Pro when i set up my studio. Yesterday, i had an issue with Mixcraft 9 crashing immediately upon startup after updating my Melodyne plugin. However, it immediately created logs of the crash and error reports and gave me the option to submit them directly to Acoustica. Within 10 hours of submitting my ticket, they got back to saying that the Melodyne plugin was the issue and providing me with an updated build of Mixcraft 9 to fix it.

This is the type of support that you should be getting when you purchase a professional product. At the very least, it should be generating a log to submit to Magix. Magix wants to tell us that Acid is the software choice of professionals, but they don't support it like a professional product. For this reason, i feel like it's time to switch DAWs.

So instead of any more shiny features or plugins, please focus on making the next version of Acid Pro STABLE!! I think i speak for most users when I say that's what we want more than anything. If anyone at Magix is reading this, it;s time for a clean sheet redesign that improves the stability of the underlying architecture at this point.

Sorry for the rant, but it's been good to get this out. Finally, does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to fix my stability issues? Would uninstalling and reinstalling work? Anybody got any other ideas?

I feel your pain i have used aAcid since Sonic Foundry launched v1.0.Back then it was just a dream to be using my pc instead of my rack of synths sampler drum machines etc.Acid is Great when it works Since v3 i have upgraded to v4 then moved to V6 about a month later buying v6 ,v 7 came out Which was OK until i updated to a 64 bit machine .Acid 8 was so buggy i stopped using it and moved sideways on with Maschine and Reason 8..

Im now on 10 and its been good.Until i updated to 10.4.29 i had all the same problems. In the forum somewhere u will find a link back to 10.3.?? which seems to be working fine.Making music has been so productive again. No crashing No errors.

I have been a faithful Acid user for over 20 years! I am also using Vegas 18 and Soundforge Pro 14 and Steinberg Spectral Layers 7. Spectral Layers 7 is now very fast since their latest update. If Steinberg can achieve this, Magix ought to be able to do the same. 152ee80cbc
