Plenty of games base themselves on futuristic, fantastical, and historical warfare with the third being quite popular due to the realism element like in 1941 Frozen Front. This takes you back in time to the midst of WWII when soldiers from various countries found themselves in unfamiliar terrain as they prepared to fight an enemy that they had never even seen. You will have to lead and order squads of infantry troops across harsh environments while being aided by all the new vehicles and weaponry at the time. It's not just about having power, it's about knowing how best to use it.

1941 Frozen Front is an isometric hexagonal strategy game controlled with the mouse. To select a unit or structure, click on it with the Left Mouse Button. You can then use actions by clicking the corresponding icons, clicking points on the map for movement, and on enemy units to attack them. Each unit has limited action points which are used for moving around the map. The goal of each mission is to accomplish the objective such as capturing an area or defeating all the enemy forces. If you fail the objective or your forces are wiped out, you'll need to retry the mission.

World War II has been a favorite subject of game developers for many years, and that trend continues with 1941 Frozen Front for the iPad. Frozen Front is a turn-based strategy game which allows you to command an army of troops and vehicles in a number of different skirmishes in snowy eastern Europe. But while the action is intense and the game's production values are top notch, Frozen Front's "free" price tag ends up being very misleading.

What it comes down to is 1941 Frozen Front is a truly top-notch strategy game for the iPad, but it would probably have been better served as a $4.99 upfront purchase that allows a sustainable in-game economy rather than offering itself up for free but then demanding cash to proceed later on. Either way, it's worth a look if you're a strategy gamer, if only to shoot some cannons for a few minutes.

1941 Frozen Front isn't subtle about making its players want to spend $1.99. It might technically be a free to play game, but it offers advert banners that are so obtrusive, that many will quickly find themselves having to decide whether to pay up or just delete the game. Besides being rather off-putting and underhanded, I'm not convinced that 1941 Frozen Front is even worth the $1.99. It might offer some fun, but there are better strategy gaming options already out there.

What does stand out is being able to use Anti-Air placements, or bunk down for extra defensive capability. It adds a small tactical edge to an otherwise fairly unremarkable title. 1941 Frozen Front isn't a game in which it's possible to gain a perfect victory, however, with attrition very much key to success. This, presumably, helps the in-app purchases available given that they're used to restock units as well as create new ones. Only a limited supply is ever given for free.

It's not so much that 1941 Frozen Front is a bad game, although those incessant adverts do get very annoying, just that it's a fairly unexceptional game. Steer clear of paying out for anything, and that won't seem such an issue, but 1941 Frozen Front really doesn't offer many valid reasons to be worthy of spending money. Each battle might last a suitably reasonable length of time, but don't expect to be enthralled any time soon.

In the overall context of the war, by far the largest and most important target for Germany was the Soviet Union. By the spring of 1941, Hitler felt confident that an all-out attack on the USSR was certain to succeed, now that German military resources could be concentrated in the east. According to his own racial ideology, the Slavs of Eastern Europe (most obviously the Russians) were so inferior to the "Aryan" Germans that they would be unable to mount an effective resistance. Thus, Hitler anticipated the conquest of the Soviet Union taking about ten weeks.

Codenamed Operation Barbarossa, in June of 1941, Germany invaded the USSR. The first few months were a horrendous disaster for the Soviets. The Soviet air force was utterly destroyed, as were most of its armored divisions, and hundreds of thousands of Soviet soldiers were taken prisoner. (During the 1930s, Josef Stalin had "purged" the army, killing almost all of the experienced commanders.) In many areas, the locals actually welcomed the Germans as a better controlling force than the Bolsheviks had been, putting up no resistance at all. Even though Hitler himself was frustrated to discover that his ten-week estimate of conquest was inaccurate, the first months of the invasion still amounted to an astonishing success for German forces.

9/10 double edge iron shoemaking tool used by Simon Gelbart, who was conscripted into the Soviet Army from 1943-1945 because of his shoemaking skills. This burnishing tool is heated and heavily pressed along the edge of the shoe sole to strengthen the edge and seal it from water. There are several edge irons of different sizes and forms in his tool kit which Simon, a master shoemaker, kept with him all through the war. After Germany invaded Poland in September 1939, Simon kept moving his family, his wife, Sara, and sons David, 9, and Haim, 5, east to escape persecution. Soon after they reached Soviet territory, the family was arrested and sent to Siberian Labor Camp #70, where a daughter was born. When Germany invaded the Soviet Union in June 1941, they were released. Due to a bombing raid on their train, they were detained and that winter, the Soviets sent the family to Krotovka collective farm. Everything had been confiscated for the war effort and the farmers were Jew haters who would not help them. Haim died of starvation, but a devout Christian woman, Pashinka Bravina, took in David. In 1943, Simon was forced to join the Red Army to repair shoes for the soldiers. He was stationed on the front lines and his family followed him until the war ended in May 1945. Simon was released from service in 1946 and the family returned to d. Because of the vicious antisemitism there, Simon paid the underground to take them to west Germany where they were sent to Eschwege displaced persons camp. Denied permission to emigrate to Israel, the family went to the United States in 1951. Simon carried his shoemaking kit with him, but he never made shoes again. ff782bc1db
