Privacy Policy for dot5

This Privacy Policy describes how the dot5 mobile application (the "App"), developed by Luca Di Michele ("we", "us"), handles information in connection with your use of the App.

By downloading or using the App you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information we do NOT collect

We do not ask for, collect, or store:

- Your name, email address, phone number, postal address, or any other directly identifying personal information.

- Account credentials (the App has no user accounts or sign-in).

- Payment, billing, or financial information (the App is free and contains no in-app purchases or ads).

- Photos, contacts, location, microphone, or camera data.

- The content of any messages, files, or documents.

2. Information collected automatically

The App uses Google Firebase services to help us understand usage patterns and diagnose crashes. Firebase collects the following information on our behalf:

2.1 Firebase Analytics

- Anonymous app usage events (for example: app launches, screens viewed, features used, game completions).

- The Identifier for Vendors (IDFV), a random identifier scoped to the App and reset if you uninstall and reinstall the App.

- Device type, model, operating system version, language, and region.

- Approximate location inferred from IP address (country level only).

- App version and session duration.

Firebase Analytics does not receive any of your game data, scores, or personal information. Events do not contain content that can directly identify you.

2.2 Firebase Crashlytics

When the App crashes or encounters an error, Firebase Crashlytics collects:

- A stack trace of the crash.

- Device model, operating system version, and App version.

- A random installation identifier that resets on reinstall.

Crash reports do not include your game data, settings, or any content you entered.

Information collected by Firebase is processed by Google LLC. See Google's privacy practices at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy and https://policies.google.com/privacy.

3. Information stored on your device only

The App stores the following information locally on your device. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party:

- Paused games, game history, and statistics.

- App settings and preferences.

- Tutorial progress.

You can delete all local App data at any time by deleting the App from your device. Deleting the App does not automatically delete previously collected anonymous analytics or crash data from Google's systems.

4. On-device AI

The App includes an on-device Core ML model that powers the AI opponent. All AI inference happens locally on your device. No gameplay data, board positions, or model inputs or outputs are ever transmitted to us or any third party.

5. Children's privacy

The App is rated for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not collect directly identifying information from anyone, it is compatible with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") and equivalent regulations in other jurisdictions. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to remove it.

6. Your choices

- Disable analytics tracking system-wide. On iOS, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking (and related settings) to limit tracking across apps.

- Reset your advertising/vendor identifier. On iOS, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, or uninstall and reinstall the App.

- Stop using the App. Deleting the App removes all locally stored data immediately and stops any future collection.

7. Data retention

Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data are retained by Google according to Google's retention policies, typically between 2 and 14 months depending on the event type. See https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/7667196 for details.

We do not retain any separate copy of this data.

8. International data transfers

Firebase processes data in Google data centers, which may be located in the United States and other countries outside your country of residence. By using the App you acknowledge that your data may be processed in those countries.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable data protection laws (such as the European Union's GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act) including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information.

Because we do not directly collect personal information and only receive anonymized analytics from Google, the most effective way to exercise these rights is to:

1. Disable tracking in your iOS system settings.

2. Uninstall the App.

3. Contact Google directly regarding data they hold, using the links in Section 2.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
