The department of sociology came into existence since the very beginning of the college in 1973. Sociology as a subject is being taught at the undergraduate and post graduate level. At present, three posts of lectures are sanctioned which are occupied. All faculty members are competent and fulfill UGC norms. Teachers are actively engaged in teaching and research. Post- graduate degree course is available only through semester system from academic session 2011-12 and UG classes from 2016-17. The syllabus of sociology has been revised to follow the guidelines of UGC in spirit and meaning. The university revises the syllabus from time to time. Compulsory paper on Quantitative Methods has been introduced in UG & PG as directed in UGC guideline.
