DoseBuddy Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how DoseBuddy collects, uses, and protects information when you use the DoseBuddy mobile application.

By using DoseBuddy you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are

DoseBuddy is provided by DenseWatermelon.

2. Information we collect

DoseBuddy is designed to work mainly on your device. The app does not require you to create an account.

Information you enter into the app

The app may store the following information on your device:

• Medication names
• Dosage and unit
• Times and frequency for each dose
• Start dates, duration, and refill dates
• Dose history such as whether you marked a dose as taken

This information is stored locally on your device using mobile operating system storage. It is not sent to servers operated by DenseWatermelon.

Device information for notifications

To send you reminders, DoseBuddy may collect:

• A device or installation identifier created by the notification service
• Information about which reminders are active on your device

This information may be processed by notification providers such as Expo or Google Firebase Cloud Messaging so that reminders can be delivered to your phone.

Camera data for barcode scanning

If you choose to use the barcode scanner, the app requests access to your device camera.

• The camera is used to scan the code on a medication package
• The image is processed in order to read the code and is not stored by DenseWatermelon
• The numeric code may be sent to a medication information service so that DoseBuddy can suggest a name for the medication

You can choose not to grant camera permission. The rest of the app will continue to work.

3. How we use your information

We use your information for the following purposes:

1. To create and manage your medication schedules and refill reminders

2. To send you local and push notifications about upcoming doses and refills

3. To show your dose history and progress inside the app

4. To maintain the security and basic operation of the application

We do not use your data for advertising or for building marketing profiles.

4. Storage and retention

• Medication data is stored on your device in application storage.
• Notification identifiers may be stored on secure servers operated by notification providers.
• We keep information only as long as it is needed for the purposes described above or until you remove it.

If you delete a medication or dose history inside the app, that data is removed from local storage on your device.

Uninstalling the app will remove locally stored data from your device.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share limited information with the following categories of service providers, only as needed for the app to function:

1. Notification providers
   To deliver reminders to your device, a notification token and related configuration may be processed by providers such as Expo or Firebase.

2. Medication information providers
   When you use barcode scanning, the scanned code may be sent to a third party medication database in order to look up the product name.

These providers are allowed to use the information only to provide their services to us and must protect it according to their own privacy policies.

We may also share information if required:

• To comply with a legal request, court order, or applicable law
• To protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others

6. Legal basis for processing

If you are located in a region that requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on:

• Your consent, for example when you enable notifications or camera access
• Our legitimate interest in providing a safe and reliable medication reminder tool

You may withdraw consent by changing your device settings or by uninstalling the app.

7. Your choices and controls

You have the following options:

1. Manage medications
   Add, edit, or delete medications and dose history in the app at any time.

2. Control notifications
   Turn dose reminders on or off inside the app or in your device notification settings.

3. Camera permission
   Enable or disable camera access in your device settings. Barcode scanning will not work when camera access is disabled.

4. Uninstall the app
   You can remove DoseBuddy from your device at any time, which deletes locally stored app data.

8. Children privacy

DoseBuddy is intended for use by adults.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of eighteen. If you believe that a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so that we can remove it.

9. International users

Your data may be processed in countries other than the one where you live, including countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have different data protection laws than your own. We take reasonable steps to protect your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of the page. Important changes may also be communicated inside the app.
