Association of Special Needs Educators "ASNEDs"
There are hundreds of Filipino children born with down syndrome and suffering from genetic mental, psychological, and physical disability. In pursuance to the Proclamation No. 157 of the National Council on Disability Affairs signed under the presidency of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on the year 2002, stating the declaration of the month of February as the “National Down Syndrome Consciousness Month. With this, the Association of Special Needs Educators (ASNEDs) with the collaboration of BSNED students conducted an awareness activity on the month of February 2020. We believe that children with Down syndrome deserve the dignity and respect from everyone and need the State’s mantle of protection against abuse, violence and public indifference. Spreading awareness is one of the keys that will immensely help in educating the society on the great potential that children with Down syndrome can live the normal life.
We enjoined and extended our utmost support to the importance of this month by walking for awareness, inviting experts, and symposium. Because, we believe that society is responsible to be informed and children with Down syndrome deserve social acceptance. Our activity will surely contribute to the institution in spreading consciousness and will benefit everyone
objectives;
1. Collaborate students in making awareness in the community;
2. Mitigate social stigma toward individual with disability; and
3. Promote strong sense of consciousness among ASNEDs and BSNED students
Words of gratitude to our ever active Adviser, Mr Robie V. Catubigan and Program Head, Mr. Jumher Dave J. Pajarillaga.
