Bio
Dorin Gal is a composer, oboist, and creator who moves fluidly between instruments, genres, and artistic mediums. Her work spans concert music, film and dance scoring, performance, improvisation, and songwriting — often solo, often in close collaboration with other musicians, artists, and forms. Born in Germany and raised in Israel, Dorin was trained in classical music, jazz, and composition, and draws from a broad spectrum of sonic and cultural influences. She studied composition at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, with an exchange semester at hmt Rostock, and at the Internal Compass Jazz Institute in Mitzpe Ramon.
Her instrumental works include collaborations with the WoodWind Trio — where she also performs as an oboist — as well as with unitedberlin ensemble and Cellowercken Zutphen (Netherlands). She has composed for several films, working with directors Naama Shmueli and Yael Zugman, and has created music for international dance productions such as INTONATION (Montclair State University) and PERSPECTIVES (Volkstheater Tanzkompanie, Rostock). She released two singles, which are part of her debut album, soon to be released.
Dorin’s music blends voice, oboe, and electronics into melancholic, intimate soundscapes. Her favorite time to write is just before dawn.
