DoodleSpark ForKids (“DoodleSpark”, “the app”) is a creative children’s application developed and published by DoodleSpark. This Privacy Policy explains how DoodleSpark handles information when children and their grown-ups use the app.
DoodleSpark is designed with privacy in mind. Children create drawings first, and the app allows those drawings to be used for animations, stories, games and other creative activities.
DoodleSpark does not require children to create an account or public profile.
The app may access drawings or images that a grown-up or user chooses to photograph with the device camera or select from the device. This access is used to provide DoodleSpark's drawing and creative features.
DoodleSpark may also store information created while using the app, such as saved creations, doodle names, stories, favourites, game progress and app preferences.
This information is stored locally on the device for the app's functionality.
DoodleSpark may request permission to use the device camera so a drawing can be photographed and brought into the app.
Users may also choose an existing image from their device where supported.
Camera and photo access is used only when the user chooses to use these features.
DoodleSpark does not require microphone access and does not use the microphone to record children.
DoodleSpark is designed for children and families.
DoodleSpark does not provide:
• Child accounts
• Public user profiles
• Child-to-child messaging
• Public posting of children's creations
• Targeted advertising
DoodleSpark does not ask children to provide an email address, phone number, home address or precise location in order to use the app.
Drawings used with DoodleSpark are processed as part of the app's creative experience.
Core DoodleSpark drawing, Magic Action, story and game features are designed to operate locally on the device.
DoodleSpark does not operate a public gallery or social network for children's drawings.
If a grown-up chooses to use the device's sharing or export features, they control where the exported creation is sent. DoodleSpark does not control third-party applications or services selected by the grown-up for sharing.
DoodleSpark can create stories using its built-in story system. Stories and related information are stored locally on the device.
The Read to Me feature uses supported text-to-speech voices available through the device. DoodleSpark does not record the child's voice and does not require microphone access for this feature.
DoodleSpark does not currently display advertising.
DoodleSpark does not currently use advertising trackers or behavioural advertising systems to create profiles of children for advertising purposes.
DoodleSpark does not require precise location information for its creative features.
DoodleSpark's saved creations and preferences are primarily stored locally on the user's device.
Information may remain on the device until it is deleted using DoodleSpark's available deletion controls, the app's data is cleared through the device, or the app is uninstalled.
The Grown-up Corner provides controls for managing and deleting supported saved app content.
Grown-ups can use the controls provided within DoodleSpark to remove supported saved creations, stories and other locally stored content.
Because DoodleSpark does not currently require user accounts, there is no DoodleSpark online account that needs to be deleted.
Users can also remove locally stored app data through their Android device settings or by uninstalling the app.
DoodleSpark is designed to minimise the amount of information required to provide its features and to keep core creative information on the device where possible.
No method of electronic storage or software operation can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but DoodleSpark is designed to limit unnecessary collection and transmission of children's information.
DoodleSpark may rely on operating-system and distribution services required to install and operate the app, such as Android and Google Play.
When a grown-up deliberately exports or shares something to another application, the privacy practices of that external application or service will apply to information sent to it.
DoodleSpark may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes or when legal or platform requirements change.
The date at the top of this policy will be updated when material changes are made.
If future versions of DoodleSpark introduce features that change how user information is handled, this Privacy Policy and the relevant Google Play declarations will be updated accordingly.
If you are a parent, guardian or other user and have a question about privacy or how DoodleSpark handles information, please contact:
