Eastern Mediterranean Bioarchaeology
My bioarchaeological research is focused on understanding the demographic and cultural processes of the Early Bronze Age in the Eastern Mediterranean, with particular focus on Anatolia. I am especially interested in studying biological diversity, postmarital residence, kinship construction, migration, and community identity formation using biological distance methods.
Scientific Prejudice
This research focuses on how biological anthropological research has been used (and produced) by researchers and extremists to promote racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, anti-Semitic, etc. ideologies. As a part of this project, I am interested in evaluating the ethical and professional issues in anthropological research, teaching, and public engagement and best evaluating how to combat racist ideologies and practices both within and outside of the discipline.
Fuzzy Logic
This project focuses on the application of fuzzy logic in a forensic and bioarchaeological context. This technique serves to address typological concerns in forensic ancestry and sex estimation and biological distance studies and accommodate the natural diversity in human variation.
