I joined the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at York University as an assistant professor in 2023. I am also an adjunct professor at Brock University. I received my PhD in actuarial science from the University of Waterloo in 2017. Before joining York University, I was an assistant professor at the University of St. Thomas (2017 – 2021) and Brock University (2021 – 2023). My research focuses on principal-agent problems in (re)insurance design, risk management in finance and insurance, designing and improving modern insurance products such as variable annuities, and optimal financial/insurance decisions made by individuals. My expertise is growing in cutting-edge areas including machine learning in insurance and digital transformation of insurance industry. I have published in top-tier actuarial science journals like Insurance: Mathematics and Economics, ASTIN Bulletin, Scandinavian Actuarial Journal, and Journal of Risk and Insurance. My research program is currently funded by Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council.  I am also an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA).

Well funded PhD student positions are available. Talented and driven individuals with backgrounds in Actuarial Science, Mathematical Finance, Applied Mathematics, and Data Science are encouraged to send their transcripts and CV to me by email. I regretfully acknowledge that, due to an exceptionally busy schedule, I will be able to respond only to a limited number of inquiries, despite the abundance of exceptional candidates. I encourage all applicants to seek supervision through the official application system of York University. Your interest is greatly appreciated.
