Summary: We consider a new large-scale communication scheme where randomly distributed backscatter nodes are involved as secondary users to primary transmitter and primary receiver pairs. The secondary communication between a backscatter transmitter and a backscatter receiver introduces additional double fading channels and has a two-side effect to the primary communications. We derive the signal-to-interferenceplus-noise ratio and signal-to-interference ratio based coverage probabilities for two network configuration scenarios.

Summary: A novel idea that integrates the non-geostationary orbit (NGSO) satellite communication systems (SCS) and radio astronomy systems (RAS) was proposed. The fundamental issues of this paradigm such as the observation opportunity, radio frequency interference (RFI), spectrum allocation and data transportation, are investigated. This innovation can benefit both the NGSO SCS and RAS in terms of the increasing of communication resources, RAS observation opportunity and quality, and the mitigation of RFI, etc.

Summary: We proposed a multi-tier MTC data aggregation scheme under different QoS constraints. Then, we developed resource partitioning approaches to 1) achieve different degrees of tradeoffs between the network utility and fairness of radio resource allocation and 2) maximize the weighted sum of QoE in terms of the satisfaction of network throughput. Next, we proposed an MTC gateway transmit power control strategy to accommodate the proposed MTC data aggregation scheme. The effect of the aggregated MTC gateway transmit power on the resource partitioning between MTC gateways and MTC devices is analyzed.

Summary: Radio astronomy provides scientifically important descriptions of the universe. However, the conflict of the spectrum rights between active wireless communication systems and passive radio astronomy systems (RAS) has become substantially greater due to the expansion of both sides. Based on a new spectrum sharing paradigm, this article proposed a distributed auxiliary radio telescope (DART) system which can geographically and spectrally coexist with cellular wireless communications (CWC). Theoretical performance analysis of the DART system was presented. Furthermore, a cooling power allocation problem was solved using convex optimization techniques.

Summary: We considered a FD two-way relay network, where a single-antenna node intends to eavesdrop. The problem is to optimize the relay's beamformer and artificial noise covariance for sum secrecy rate maximization. This non-convex problem was solved using semidefinite relaxation (SDR) and minorization-maximization (MM). The tightness of SDR was proved. An inexact but computationally cheap MM solution was also developed.
