Beginnings
Don Covair is a talented Keyboardist, Bassist, Producer, Recording Engineer, and Music Educator from the South Jersey/Philadephia area. Covair's formal music training dates back to as early as 4th grade, where he pursued classic lessons in cello until Junior year in high-school. His Senior year, Covair made the switch from the cello to Upright and Electric Bass due to orchestral necessity and has never looked back.
COLLEGIATE
Covair went on to pursue Music Business at Winston-Salem State University with dual principle instruments Piano and Upright Bass. There, he continued in the University Orchestra, University Jazz Band, several local bands, as well as churches in the Carolina and Atlanta area.
Don Covair had the honor of pledging Phi Mu Alpha, a well renown music fraternity, and serving as the Music Director for the Mu Beta Chapter in WInston Salem, NC
Let The Church Say (AMin)
Don Covair has opened up for the likes of Tye Tribbett, Donnie McClurkin, PJ Morton, Mary Mary, as well as having the opportunity to play along-side Ki-Ki Sheard in a series of performances throughout North Carolina. He has been featured live on Dr. Bobby Jones live TV recording in Nashville, TN where he played alongside "Timika Peterson Few Few Chosen & Stereo." He has served as Music Director for both The Grace Center in Philadelphia, PA as well as The New Jerusalem in Mt Holly, NJ and currently serves at Rock Life Church in Sweedsboro, NJ.
Major Culture Music
Major Culture Music began in 2018 with a vision and a dream while cruising at over 3000 ft. in the air in a plane. While on their way home from a tour in California with another group, Shae Davis and Don Covair were eager to bring back everything they had learned on tour to the local music scene in South Jersey. South Jersey has a rich music culture with rich influences from neighboring Philadelphia, PA and New York. It was then that the two decided on the name Major Culture Music! MCM would serve as a platform for local artists to share the rich culture that New Jersey has to offer as well as raising the standard of quality, professionalism, artistry and creativity. Don Covair currently serves as both the band's co-owner as well as Music Director.
MCM has a unique blend of agency band level precision and Indie band level creativity! All of our musicians have a broad music background ranging from Classical, Jazz, and Rock to Gospel, Funk, and Soul. MCM incorporates all of these elements in addition to a blend of Pop, Hip Hop, and Top 40 music that the local scene is well known for.
