SIDE PROJECTS
I was fortunate enough to take part in the Global Game Jam 2025 Event with a group of my peers. The theme of the jam was Bubbles. The team created the concept of a management-style game set in a sauna, with the player controlling a waiter balancing serving drinks and ensuring the hot tubs stay turned on.
My role was creating the user interface for the game. Our artist created the 2D bar background for the main menu, and the P48 document was created by our level designer. I used Adobe Photoshop to create the bubble logo and stylised the text coloured bubble text. I also developed the remaining assets for the controls and game over screen. My aim was to create menus which felt cohesive with the theme of the game jam prompt as well as our game concept.
As a means to challenge myself, I enjoy remixing existing user interfaces with my own input. For this project, I reorganised the Nintendo Switch Mii creator/editor screen. Throughout this process, I elected to evidence my workflow to demonstrate the step-by-step process of how I follow a pipeline.
This was a personal project I completed in my own time. My goal was to practice my technical Photoshop skills and design an interface based on an existing example. I feel I achieved the goal of this project as it challenged me to be critical of other professional work and implement my own style.
All assets on-screen are my own except the Mii image. If given the chance to develop this project more, I would aim to showcase other areas of the Mii customisation screen in my own interpretation. Additionally, I would enjoy reimagining various other Nintendo Switch interfaces, such as the console home page.
This was my submission for another of my university assignments.
This module allowed students to choose their own area of interest and address skill gaps. My chosen area of interest was creating animated user interface elements.
This project allowed me insight into the tools available for use in Adobe After Effects, which I used to create my interface. My project was based on recreating the UI of an existing game title - Superhot.
I created an animated background using After Effects, as well as a shatter effect for the title text based on the in-game VFX. My aim was to align my main menu concept with the gameplay of Superhot while providing a platform to practice new skills. I believe this project was successful in introducing me to new software and its capabilities.
This was a project I completed as part of a university module. The aim of the module was to follow the pipeline of creating user interface screens from wireframing, user testing to final asset.
I worked as part of a pair for this assignment. This was my first experience with user interface art and design.
I used a web graphics software called Vectr for this project. The design decisions and layout were agreed between myself and my project partner.
We divided the workload of asset creation and the screens shown here are the final products I created.
