(eric-verdier.com) The Story of Domaine de l’Origan – Cuvée d’AmourWe have known each other for more than 25 years. Our relationship began through conversations about the flavors of gastronomy and beverages, a field that has always been part of our professional lives.Originally, we came from the world of coffee. We once operated a coffee business in the heart of Paris, where we personally selected and roasted coffees sourced from various regions around the world. Our establishment offered more than thirty varieties of rare coffees, including Thai coffee, which was enjoyed by both Parisians and international visitors.Today we live in Thailand, but before making this life change, we had already envisioned a shared project: to create a wine that would pair beautifully with Thai cuisine.Thai gastronomy is globally renowned for the richness and complexity of its flavors—spicy, sweet, salty, and sometimes creamy. Finding a wine that harmoniously complements such diverse taste profiles is not an easy task, as not every wine naturally pairs well with Thai dishes. While wine is an integral part of French culinary culture, Thai cuisine has also earned worldwide recognition and admiration. With this in mind, we embarked on numerous culinary experiments. We prepared a wide range of Thai dishes and paired them with wines carefully selected by Mr. Eric VERDIER. These tastings were repeated many times over several years in order to discover the ideal balance of flavors.Gradually, a clear vision of the desired wine style emerged. Eventually, this red wine was born in 2023.The grapes come from two vineyard parcels “Reigne Iris Nord” for the Cabernet Sauvignon and “La Cave” for the Syrah, both located in Lançon-de-Provence, north of Marseille. The climatic conditions of that year were particularly favorable. Spring rains followed by balanced warmth and generous sunshine allowed the grapes to ripen perfectly. These carefully selected grape varieties were then blended and aged in oak barrels under close supervision, allowing their aromas and structure to develop with precision and elegance. The result is a wine that not only expresses its terroir, but also stands apart from other wines of Provence. It has been crafted with a distinctive vision—to pair harmoniously with Thai cuisine. This wine bears the name "Domaine de l’Origan – Cuvée d’Amour"A wine created especially for wine lovers in Thailand.
