The Dolgeville Community band is a community based concert band based in Dolgeville, NY. First performing as the Citizens' Cornet Band around 1886, the Dolgeville Community Band takes pride in its role of bringing the local community together through music. The band originally performed at the Dolgeville bandstand, located on the corner of Van Buren and South Main Street. It was then relocated to Plowe Park, where their current bandstand resides.
The band is composed of members from the surrounding Mohawk Valley region with diverse occupations and backgrounds who also enjoy rehearsing, performing and sharing their love of music with the community. All of our musicians are volunteers and membership is open to anyone wishing to join us in refined and joyous music making. The band serves a vital role in the community, promoting the joy of music and performing a diverse range of genres, including classical, Americana, swing, jazz, rock, pop, and Broadway.
At full strength the band is comprised of 50+ members and rehearses in May in June for our summer performances. For the trained musician, the band provides an excellent opportunity to utilize their music training while contributing to the cultural vibrancy of the surrounding community. The band upholds the outstanding community music traditions of the Mohawk Valley and hopes to continue this tradition well into the future.
