DogTrail Privacy Policy
**Effective date:** July 25, 2026
**Last updated:** July 25, 2026
DogTrail (“DogTrail,” “the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is provided by the developer identified on DogTrail’s App Store product page (“Developer”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App.
## 1. Summary
DogTrail is designed to collect as little information as possible.
- We do not require you to create an account.
- We do not display advertisements.
- We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, camera data, microphone data, or advertising identifier.
- Your settings are stored locally on your device.
- If iCloud is available, the App stores your current level number in Apple’s iCloud key-value storage so your progress can stay consistent across your Apple devices.
## 2. Information Handled by the App
### 2.1 Information stored on your device
The App stores the following preferences locally using Apple’s standard device storage:
- sound setting;
- haptic feedback setting;
- display language; and
- current campaign level.
This information is used only to remember your choices and game progress. It is not sent to our own servers.
### 2.2 iCloud game-progress synchronization
If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud is available for the App, DogTrail may store one value in your iCloud account: your current campaign level number.
This value is used only to synchronize game progress between devices connected to the same Apple Account. We do not store your name, email address, Apple Account credentials, gameplay history, or detailed activity in iCloud.
iCloud is operated by Apple. Apple’s handling of information is governed by [Apple’s Privacy Policy](https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/) and applicable iCloud terms. You can manage iCloud through your device’s system settings.
### 2.3 Daily Challenge sharing
When you choose the Share option after a Daily Challenge, the App prepares a text summary that may include:
- whether the challenge was completed;
- elapsed time;
- number of mistakes; and
- number of dogs found.
Sharing happens only after you initiate it and choose a destination in Apple’s system share sheet. The selected app or service may process the shared content under its own privacy policy. DogTrail does not automatically publish or upload this summary.
### 2.4 Temporary gameplay information
During a game, the App processes information such as placed dogs, marked cells, elapsed time, lives, and mistakes so the game can function. Except for the current campaign level described above, this gameplay information is not transmitted to our servers and is not retained by us after it is no longer needed by the App.
## 3. Information We Do Not Collect
The current version of DogTrail does not collect:
- contact information;
- health or fitness information;
- financial or payment information;
- precise or coarse location;
- contacts, messages, photos, audio, or other user content;
- browsing or search history;
- device advertising identifiers;
- crash logs or performance analytics through developer-integrated services; or
- information used for advertising, profiling, or cross-app tracking.
Apple may independently process App Store, device, diagnostic, or usage information according to your device settings and Apple’s privacy policies. That processing is controlled by Apple and is not performed through developer-integrated tracking code in DogTrail.
## 4. Purposes of Processing
We handle the limited information described above only to:
- provide and operate the game;
- remember your settings;
- save and synchronize your campaign progress;
- show game results; and
- enable sharing when you request it.
We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not use personal information for targeted advertising.
## 5. Legal Bases
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information:
- to provide the functionality you request;
- with your consent when you voluntarily use iCloud or initiate sharing;
- to comply with applicable legal obligations; and
- for our legitimate interest in maintaining a secure and functional App, provided that this interest does not override your rights.
## 6. Disclosure to Other Parties
We do not disclose your information to advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics providers.
Information may be handled by:
- **Apple iCloud**, when game-progress synchronization is available; and
- **a service you select from the system share sheet**, when you choose to share a Daily Challenge result.
We may disclose information if required by applicable law, a valid legal process, or a binding request from a competent authority. Because we do not operate a user account system or developer server for App data, we generally do not possess information that directly identifies individual players.
## 7. Retention and Deletion
Local preferences remain on your device until you change them, reset or uninstall the App, or erase the device.
The synchronized campaign level may remain in your iCloud key-value storage in accordance with Apple’s iCloud retention practices. You can manage the App’s access to iCloud through your Apple device settings. If you need assistance regarding DogTrail’s synchronized progress value, contact us using the details below.
We do not maintain a separate server-side user profile or database of DogTrail gameplay information.
## 8. Security
We minimize the information handled by the App and rely on Apple’s platform security for local and iCloud storage. No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we use reasonable measures appropriate to the limited nature of the information involved.
## 9. Children
DogTrail does not knowingly request or collect personal information from children. The App does not include public profiles, behavioral advertising, or user-to-user communication.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us. If we learn that we hold such information, we will take appropriate steps to delete it as required by applicable law.
## 10. International Use
Apple services may process information in countries or regions outside the place where you live. Any such processing by Apple is governed by Apple’s applicable terms and privacy policies.
Because we do not operate our own backend service for DogTrail, we do not independently transfer App gameplay information to developer-controlled servers in other countries.
## 11. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing.
You can exercise available choices by:
- changing sound, haptic, and language settings in the App;
- managing iCloud access in your device settings;
- choosing whether to use the system share function;
- uninstalling the App to remove locally stored App data; or
- contacting us with a privacy request.
We may need sufficient information to understand and respond to a request. We will not ask for more information than reasonably necessary.
## 12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App’s features, data practices, or legal requirements change. We will update the “Last updated” date and, when required, provide additional notice in the App or through the App Store.
If a future version introduces analytics, advertising, accounts, purchases, new permissions, or additional data collection, we will update this Privacy Policy and the App Store privacy disclosures before or when those changes take effect.
## 13. Contact Us
Privacy questions and requests may be sent to **wangziwei9401@gmail.com**. Please include “DogTrail Privacy Request” in the subject or first line of your message.
