About Department of English:

The department of English is one of the most evolved and enhanced departments in Govt .P.G. College,Ranikhet. It came into existence in 1973.The post graduation in English started in 1990.Since then it has been catering to teach English language & literature.The enhancement is a consequence of the cumulative efforts of an outstanding faculty and an enthusiast group of learners. With a varied horizon of specialties in literary studies, the department offers a unique insight to European Renaissance Literature, literature of the English Romantics, the Victorian Literature, Indian literature in translation, Literary Theory and Criticism.

The department of English at Government P.G College,Ranikhet is committed to enhancing the intellectual and cultural lives of its students, its faculty and the citizens of the region. Through high quality instruction, research and service, it works to sustain a deep level of critical and creative thinking about literature and the world and to encourage habits of mind that serve as the foundation for a variety of future careers for college students.

Vision :

Building confidence to use English in both written and spoken forms.It seeks to introduce the students to the major signposts in the historical evolution of literary studies from its inceptions to the current postcolonial realm.
