Operations

The Department is operationally divided into four divisions including Operations, Training, Communications & Reporting, and Maintenance.  Each division is integral to maintaining the operational readiness of the Department.

The Operations Division, overseen by the Assistant Chief, is divided into three Battalions comprising of multiple stations.  Battalion 1 covers the Roddy and Gresston fire districts.  Battalion 2 covers the Plainfield and Crossroads fire Districts.  Battalion 3 covers the Rhine and Mitchell fire districts.  In addition, DCFD receives and provides aid with fire departments from Eastman, Milan, Chauncey, and Chester, along with neighboring counties.

The Training Division, overseen by the Division Chief of Training, sets yearly training for incumbent firefighters, provides certification training for new fire recruits and firefighters wishing to increase their level of certification, and maintains training records for State of Georgia Compliance and ISO.

The Communications and Reporting Division, overseen by the Division Chief of Communications, oversees maintaining, servicing, and repair of the fire department radio equipment and fire incident reporting for all calls answered by the department.

The Maintenance Division, overseen by the Division Chief of Maintenance, ensures that repairs to apparatus and facilities are conducted.  This helps to ensure that the Department maintains operational readiness.
