The following is a little writeup/tutorial from Nicki Bailey [CMU #5] detailing some fancy photo settings that should help you get the most out of your dodgeball pictures. Just like the variety of our sport, the best settings will also be complemented to adjustments based on available lighting, your crazy speed of the dodgeballers you are photographing, and whether or not you need a flash. (personally, as an Official, I say no flash!) Take a read and try it out for yourself! Let us know how it works.

Obviously, there will be indoor action stuff to shoot for the teams (getting hit in the head, throwing, dodging, etc.) as well as team photos and awards. I'll probably use my 50mm 1.4 and 28-75mm 2.8

It's no real secret that Google wasn't supporting dodgeball the way we expected. The whole experience was incredibly frustrating for us - especially as we couldn't convince them that dodgeball was worth engineering resources, leaving us to watch as other startups got to innovate in the mobile + social space. And while it was a tough decision (and really disappointing) to walk away from dodgeball, I'm actually looking forward to getting to work on other projects again.

So, what's next? Starting today (Monday!) I'm joining the kids at area/code who are knee-deep in building all sorts of Big Games (remember PacManhattan? ConQwest?). Alex is moving on to IconNicholson where he took a gig as a Creative Strategist focusing on mobile and emerging technologies. (And sorry, but I don't know what Google has planned for dodgeball going forward.)

After The Daily Collegian Editor-in-Chief Megan Swift challenged fellow Penn State student media outlet Onward State to a dodgeball match, the blog knew it needed to accept. It was a long time coming.

The winning student team played the winning teacher team March 31 as well. Students paid $2 to attend the finals game March 31, raising money for student scholarships through Student Council. Here are some photos from both days of games.

Teams of eight will take to the dodgeball courts, while pairs of intermediate and expert foosballers will battle for dominance on the miniature soccer pitch. Tournament tickets for the tabletop sensation Catan have already sold out.

How many players can my company send? Currently, each organization is limited to 2 ping pong competitors per tournament (including a doubles ping pong team), 2 foosball teams, and 1 dodgeball team (each dodgeball team consists of 8 players and must have at least 4 female players, no substitutes) to accommodate as many groups as possible. We encourage companies to hold internal competitions in advance to find the best players to send for the intermediate and expert brackets.

What should I wear? Comfortable clothes, and maybe a towel to dry off. Feel free to bring an extra shirt if you tend to break out in a sweat during your dodgeball matches. We will have a coat and bag check area near registration.

Dodgeball court: Matches will be held on the 60-foot by 30-foot dodgeball court in the netted area in the east part of the venue. Make sure your full team is assembled at the court 15 minutes before your official match time.

Special thanks to presenting sponsor First Tech Federal Credit Union.
