Cadence Dodd was born on September 24, 2006, in Richardson, Texas. From the moment she could talk, she was dancing and singing—her earliest performances of “Tap, Tap, Tap Your Feet” in Walmart Toy Box Disney Princess Heels were legendary in her living room. Her parents never missed a chance to record her tiny shows. But if you thought she was an outgoing toddler, think again. Cadence was “too shy-ne,” as she liked to say, a quiet sparkle waiting for the right stage.
Growing up, Theatre wasn’t part of her world. She sang in church and school choirs, but standing still and blending in never felt right. She craved the spotlight, the solos, the moment when someone would whisper, “That blonde girl with the bright smile—she was outstanding.” It wasn’t until she walked into middle school that everything changed. There, she discovered a new reality—one that lit a fire inside her and gave her permission to shine.
She continued this passion in high school. For the first few years, she wasn't necessarily in the spotlight, but she never cared. Her optimism for the performing arts was too bright for her to care. She enjoyed dancing in ensembles, exploring her own physicality, and working every single day just to get better and better. One thing about Cadence Dodd is that she isn't a quitter. In fact, most friends and family would call her a perfectionist. However, she disagrees with that notion, as she claims, " Theatre is the one thing I wasn't good at right off the bat, and I don't think I ever will be. And that is perfection to me." She always tends to find the positive light of things, and when she doesn't, she channels it all into her roles. " Adding any piece of hardship in my life to each character I portray is a way of connecting to them. They aren't just roles in a script. It could be someone's life story on that stage, and I want to show the utmost care to anyone, dead or alive, to those who have struggled."
As she moves on to studying at Texas State University for her B.F.A. in Performance and Production, she intends to advance not only her acting abilities, but also engage in playwrighting and directing, as she has taken quite an interest in that realm for the near future. Additionally, she aims to put a smile on anyone's face, whether it is on the stage or in a small interaction with her peers. Foremost, however, she is eager to learn beyond what high school theatre has taught her, because there is always room to be educated.
