Taipei Documentary Filmmakers' Union (TDFU) was established in 2006 as the first independent union in Taiwan organized by documentary filmmakers. We currently have 500 active members, with a total of about 1,000 members to date.
Our core objectives are:
To protect the fundamental labor rights of documentary workers
To raise the professional standards of documentary work
To further the development of the documentary industry
Every four years, the union holds elections to select 3 supervisors, 9 directors, and numerous member representatives.

Affinity Groups are a key source of TDFU's energy and dynamism. These diverse groups are composed of enthusiastic members, member representatives, and board directors & supervisors. They serve as the smallest units through which the union's mission is put into practice.

Advocacy Groups: Labor Rights Advocacy Group, Cultural Policies Monitoring and Advocacy Group, Gender Equity Advocacy Group, Copyright and Contract Advocacy Group.

Task-Based Groups: Recreations Group, Advanced Audio Workshop Group.
Project-Based Groups: Formed according to specific needs or projects, responsible for executing various initiatives such as film festivals, media education, and research.
