Documents Terms of Use

Effective Date: August 11, 2026

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Documents iOS application and its related features (the “App”), provided by Documents (“Documents,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By downloading, accessing, purchasing a subscription to, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the App.

The App is licensed to you under the 🔗 Apple Standard End User License Agreement (“Apple Standard EULA”) where applicable. These Terms supplement the Apple Standard EULA. If these Terms conflict with the Apple Standard EULA, the Apple Standard EULA controls to the extent of the conflict.

1. The App

Documents is an iOS application that allows users to scan documents, take or import photographs, create PDF documents, organize documents into folders, preview stored documents, protect access to the App using system biometric authentication, and optionally create and restore backups through Apple iCloud.

The App may be used for personal purposes and lawful internal business purposes. You may not resell, sublicense, redistribute, commercially exploit, or provide access to the App as a standalone service without our prior written permission.

The App is a general-purpose document organization tool. It is not a certified records-management, identity-verification, legal-document, regulatory-compliance, or permanent archival service.

2. Eligibility

You may use the App only if you meet the minimum age and other eligibility requirements applicable in your jurisdiction and under Apple’s platform rules.

If you have not reached the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the App only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian where required.

An Apple Account may be required to purchase a subscription, restore purchases, or use iCloud backup features.

3. Your Documents and Content

You retain ownership of the documents, images, titles, folders, and other content you create, capture, import, or store using the App (“User Content”).

You authorize the App and the Apple services you choose to use to process User Content only as necessary to provide the requested functionality, including local storage, PDF generation, previews, biometric access protection, sharing, and optional iCloud backup.

You are solely responsible for:

Documents does not review, verify, certify, or endorse User Content.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the App only in compliance with applicable laws, the Apple Standard EULA, and these Terms.

You must not:

5. Local Storage and iCloud Backup

Documents normally stores User Content locally within the App’s storage on your device.

The App may offer an optional iCloud backup feature to eligible subscribers. This is a user-initiated backup feature and not continuous synchronization.

When you create an iCloud backup:

When you load a backup, backed-up documents are merged into the documents stored on the device. Documents cannot guarantee that every backup will be available, complete, compatible, recoverable, or free from corruption.

You are responsible for verifying that a backup completed successfully and for keeping independent copies of important documents. The App and its iCloud backup feature must not be used as the only storage location for documents whose loss could cause legal, financial, professional, or personal harm.

Deleting the App may remove locally stored User Content. Deleting the App does not necessarily delete an existing Documents backup from iCloud or transaction records maintained by Apple.

6. Subscriptions and Payments

Certain features, including premium functionality and iCloud backup access, may require a paid Documents+ subscription.

Documents may offer monthly subscriptions, annual subscriptions paid upfront, monthly billing plans with a 12-month commitment, introductory prices, promotional offers, or free trials. Availability depends on your country or region, device, operating system, Apple Account, eligibility, and current App Store configuration.

The exact price, currency, billing period, commitment period, trial terms, included features, and renewal conditions are displayed in the App and in Apple’s purchase confirmation interface before you complete a purchase. Those displayed terms control your purchase.

Payments are charged to your Apple Account through Apple. Documents does not directly process payment card information.

Unless otherwise disclosed before purchase:

You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple Account or App Store subscription settings. Cancellation of a standard subscription generally takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period.

Monthly Billing With a 12-Month Commitment

Where offered, a monthly billing plan with a 12-month commitment requires 12 monthly payments.

Canceling such a plan normally prevents renewal into another commitment period but does not cancel the remaining payments in the current 12-month commitment. Billing may continue until the current commitment is complete, except where Apple’s rules or applicable law provide otherwise.

The Apple purchase disclosure and subscription-management interface show the applicable commitment, remaining payments, and renewal terms.

Refunds

Subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law or permitted under Apple’s policies.

Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Eligibility varies by country or region. You can request a refund through Apple’s refund service.

7. Apple and Third-Party Services

The App relies on Apple services and system functionality, including the App Store, StoreKit, iCloud, CloudKit, camera access, document scanning, the Photos picker, biometric authentication, document preview, and system sharing interfaces.

Your use of those services is also governed by Apple’s applicable terms, policies, service availability, and Apple Account requirements.

When you share or export a document to another app or service, the selected destination’s terms and privacy practices apply. Documents is not responsible for third-party services, their availability, their security, or how they process content you provide to them.

8. Intellectual Property

The App, including its software, source code, design, interface, visual elements, icons, videos, text, trademarks, and other materials, is owned by or licensed to Documents and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

These ownership rights do not include your User Content.

Subject to these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA, you receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable license to use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, in accordance with Apple’s Usage Rules.

The App may include open-source software governed by separate license terms. Those licenses apply to the relevant components.

9. Availability and Changes

We may release updates, add or remove features, change feature limits, modify subscription offerings, or discontinue parts of the App.

Some features may not be available on every device, operating system version, country, or region. Features that depend on Apple services may become unavailable because of service interruptions, account restrictions, technical changes, or decisions made by Apple.

Where required by applicable law or Apple’s rules, changes affecting paid subscriptions will be communicated or implemented through the applicable App Store process.

We do not guarantee that the App will remain compatible with devices or operating system versions that are no longer supported.

10. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, with all faults and without warranties of any kind.

We disclaim all express, implied, and statutory warranties, including warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability, quiet enjoyment, and non-infringement.

Scan quality, image quality, PDF output, text readability, cropping, color reproduction, and document completeness may vary depending on source material, camera hardware, lighting, image quality, device resources, operating system behavior, and user actions.

Biometric protection provides an additional access control but does not guarantee that User Content cannot be accessed by another person.

We do not guarantee:

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Documents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of data, documents, revenue, profits, business opportunities, or goodwill arising from or related to the App.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the App or these Terms will not exceed the greater of:

These limitations do not apply where liability cannot legally be limited, including where applicable for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, personal injury, or mandatory consumer-protection rights.

12. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device. Deleting the App does not cancel an active subscription; subscriptions must be canceled separately through Apple.

We may suspend or terminate access to the App or particular features if you materially violate these Terms, misuse the App, circumvent subscription controls, or if continued operation is no longer reasonably feasible.

Termination or expiration of a subscription may remove access to premium features. Provisions concerning intellectual property, User Content responsibility, disclaimers, liability, and other provisions that by their nature should survive will remain effective after termination.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms when the App, subscription offerings, applicable laws, or supporting services change.

The updated Terms become effective on the effective date stated in the published version. Where required by applicable law, we will provide notice or request additional consent before material changes take effect.

Your continued use of the App after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

14. General Terms

These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the applicable Apple Standard EULA constitute the agreement governing your use of the App.

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Failure to enforce a provision does not waive the right to enforce it later.

The governing law and forum provisions of the Apple Standard EULA apply where applicable, subject to mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country or region.
