DocScanPro ("we," "our," or "us") is dedicated to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and safeguarded when you use our mobile application.

2. Our Local-First Philosophy

Unlike many other document scanners, DocScanPro operates primarily offline. We believe your private documents should stay private. Most processing, storage, and security operations happen directly on your device.

3. Data Collection and Usage

3.1 Personal Documents

All scanned documents, images, and PDF files are stored strictly in your device's local storage or a folder of your choosing.

We do not have access to your documents, and they are not automatically uploaded to our servers.

3.2 Camera and Gallery Access

Camera: We require camera access to allow you to scan physical documents, capture ID cards, and take GPS-tagged photos.

Gallery: We require access to your photo library only when you choose to import existing images into the app.

3.3 File Access

When you open a PDF file with DocScanPro via your device's file manager ("Open with"), we access only the selected file to display it in our PDF viewer. No files are uploaded or shared.

3.4 Signatures & Annotations

Any signatures and annotations created within the app are stored locally on your device and are only used for the specific documents you choose to apply them to.

4. Location Data

4.1 GPS Camera Feature

When you use the GPS Camera feature, we collect your device's precise location (latitude, longitude, altitude, speed, and accuracy) to embed a location watermark on your photos.

4.2 Local Only

Location data is only used to create the watermark on the photo and is not transmitted to any external servers.

4.3 Permission

Location access is requested only when you use the GPS Camera feature. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time through your device settings.

5. Audio Recording

5.1 Voice Notes

The app allows you to record voice notes attached to your documents. Audio recordings are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to any server.

5.2 Microphone Access

Microphone permission is requested only when you use the voice notes feature.

6. Security Features

6.1 Biometric Authentication

The app supports app-wide locking using your device's Biometric systems (Face ID, Fingerprint) or a PIN.

Authentication is handled entirely by the operating system's secure enclave. We do not store your biometric data.

6.2 Application Lock

You can enable an application-level lock to ensure that even if your device is unlocked, your documents remain protected.

7. AI and Document Processing

7.1 OCR (Optical Character Recognition)

Text recognition is performed on your device or via secure, private API calls that do not retain your data for training or marketing.

7.2 Translation

Document translation is performed through secure gateways. Your translated text is not stored on our servers after the session ends.

7.3 PDF Tools

Operations like signing, merging, compressing, and annotating PDFs are performed entirely on your device.

7.4 AI Features

Document summarization, classification, and other AI-powered features use secure API gateways. Only the text content is sent for processing; no personal metadata is included.

8. Data Sharing and Exporting

The app only shares data when you explicitly perform an action to do so, such as:

Sharing a PDF via email or messaging apps.

Saving a file to a custom folder on your device.

Exporting images to your gallery.

9. Third-Party Services

Google ML Kit: We use Google ML Kit for on-device document scanning, text recognition, barcode scanning, and language detection. Data processed by ML Kit stays on your device.

No Analytics or Ads: We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

We do not sell or trade your personal information to third parties.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the app.
